📋 Description

• As Team Lead Engineering for the Messaging Platform at SoSafe GmbH, you will own and lead a business-critical system responsible for outbound communication across all products, ensuring reliable, scalable, and compliant messaging that safeguards the digital world by enabling secure customer engagement.
• You will build and evolve a shared, multi-channel messaging backbone that abstracts provider-specific complexity, reducing operational burden for product teams and enabling them to focus on delivering value through seamless, secure communication channels.
• Day to day, you will translate engineering and company strategy into a clear, outcome-driven roadmap, balancing reliability, scalability, compliance, and new capabilities while leading your team through ambiguity with clarity and purpose.
• You will drive operational excellence by improving monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement practices, ensuring the platform remains resilient under growing volume and evolving business requirements.
• You will build strong partnerships with Product and other Platform teams, acting as a trusted advisor to experience squads by providing clear abstractions and reliable platform services that maximize organizational impact.
• You will coach, develop, and grow experienced engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and continuous learning while setting technical direction grounded in hands-on expertise.
• You will operate and scale business-critical services in cloud-native environments on AWS, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines to ensure high availability and rapid, safe delivery.
• You will work with modern backend technologies including Node.js (NestJS) in a microservice architecture, and engage with messaging systems such as AWS SES, SMTP, and Postfix to ensure robust email and notification delivery.
• You will enhance developer experience and system observability using tools like Cursor IDE, LaunchDarkly, and Sentry, enabling faster debugging, feature flagging, and proactive issue detection.
• You will contribute to a mission-driven culture at SoSafe, where behavioural science and data-driven learning empower organizations to turn employees into their strongest line of defence against cyber threats.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience leading and growing engineering teams, with strong people leadership skills in coaching, developing, and retaining experienced engineers.
• Solid technical background in backend development, particularly with Node.js (NestJS) in microservice architectures, enabling you to set credible technical direction and make informed architectural decisions.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and GitOps-style deployments (e.g., ArgoCD), along with familiarity in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub.
• Familiarity with messaging and email delivery systems such as AWS SES, SMTP, and Postfix, or a strong willingness to quickly gain expertise in these areas.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain business-critical systems with a focus on reliability, operational excellence, and compliance — valuing stability as much as feature velocity.
