- • As the Tech Lead for Core Backend at Jerry Technologies Inc., you will play a pivotal role in transforming the company’s insurance automation systems into a scalable, fault-tolerant framework that powers the end-to-end customer journey for over 5 million users. This role is critical because Jerry.ai’s core differentiator lies in its ability to orchestrate complex, multi-step transactions with legacy external systems—without modern APIs—making your work directly responsible for enabling seamless insurance purchases and future expansion into new verticals.
- • You will own the technical evolution of the Core Backend platform, leading the refactoring of tightly coupled legacy systems into a decoupled, observable, and testable architecture while mentoring engineers and driving hands-on implementation. Your leadership will ensure the system can gracefully handle external interface changes, scale across dozens of new product categories, and support Jerry.ai’s ambition to grow from 5M to 50M users through AI-first internal tooling.
- • You will join a small, elite engineering team led directly by the co-founder/CTO, where decision-making is fast, bureaucracy is minimal, and impact is immediate. The team operates with high ownership, deep technical rigor, and a founder’s mindset—prioritizing solving hard problems over process, and valuing builders who thrive in ambiguity and ship code daily.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, asynchronous state management, and event-driven architecture while gaining exposure to one of the largest consumer-facing auto-tech datasets in North America. You’ll also grow as a technical leader by shaping engineering standards, mentoring peers, and influencing product strategy through data-informed decisions—positioning you at the forefront of innovation in insurtech and embedded finance.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a technical lead, lead architect, or founder in an early-stage startup environment, with a track record of building and scaling backend systems from the ground up.
- • Deep expertise in TypeScript, Nest.js, and GraphQL, with hands-on experience designing and deploying microservices on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda) in production environments.
- • Strong background in designing fault-tolerant, asynchronous systems with expertise in state management, retry logic, idempotency, and observability for high-reliability workflows.
