  • • In this critical position, you will be the go-to subject matter expert for all complex accounting matters, ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and robust.
  • • You will be instrumental in supporting Magnet's ambitious growth trajectory by spearheading in-depth technical accounting research, developing and implementing comprehensive accounting policies, and providing expert guidance on the accounting implications of strategic business initiatives.
  • • Your responsibilities will include staying abreast of evolving accounting standards, performing detailed analysis of new pronouncements, and assessing their impact on Magnet Forensics' financial statements and operations.
  • • You will lead the development and maintenance of the company's accounting policies and procedures manual, ensuring it remains current, relevant, and aligned with U.S. GAAP and best practices.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and analyzing complex transactions, such as revenue recognition, business combinations, stock-based compensation, leases, and other specialized areas.
  • • You will collaborate closely with the broader Finance team, including Financial Reporting, FP&A, and Tax, to ensure seamless integration of technical accounting guidance into daily operations and financial planning.
  • • A key aspect of your role will involve partnering cross-functionally with departments such as Legal, Sales, Engineering, and Product Development to provide accounting expertise and support for new products, contracts, and business arrangements.
  • • You will be responsible for the preparation and review of technical accounting memos, position papers, and other documentation to support significant accounting conclusions.
  • • Furthermore, you will contribute to the enhancement of internal controls related to technical accounting areas, working with the internal audit team to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX) and assist in the evaluation and implementation of controls as needed.
  • • You will play a key role in the month-end and year-end close processes, providing technical accounting support and ensuring the accurate and timely accounting for complex transactions.

  • • Stay informed about emerging accounting standards and industry trends, proactively assessing their potential impact on Magnet Forensics.
  • • Develop and deliver training to finance and other relevant teams on technical accounting topics to enhance overall financial literacy and compliance.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in technical accounting, public accounting (Big 4 preferred), or a combination thereof.
  • • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 718 (Stock-Based Compensation), and business combinations (ASC 805).
  • • Proven experience in performing complex accounting research and documenting conclusions.
  • • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues to a non-technical audience.
  • • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
  • • Public company experience or experience working with publicly traded companies is a strong asset.
