- • Lead engineering initiatives to design and build scalable backend systems enabling BJAK’s expansion into the UK insurance market.
- • Translate UK-specific business, regulatory, and operational requirements into robust, production-grade system architectures.
- • Design and extend core platform services to support new insurance workflows including quotes, policy issuance, endorsements, and claims in the UK context.
- • Architect and implement integrations with UK-based insurers, partners, and external APIs critical to local market operations.
- • Ensure platform compliance with UK data handling, governance, audit, and regulatory requirements for insurance operations.
- • Review architecture and implementation quality to guarantee scalability, correctness, reliability, and operational readiness for international deployment.
- • Collaborate closely with Malaysia-based product, engineering, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end UK expansion initiatives.
- • Drive system stability through proactive monitoring, incident response, debugging, and root cause analysis of production issues.
- • Oversee safe, controlled, and reliable production releases for systems supporting UK market entry.
- • Maintain hands-on engineering involvement by contributing to code, reviewing implementations, and solving complex technical challenges.
- • Identify and mitigate risks related to multi-region system expansion, regulatory complexity, and operational scalability.
- • Build extensible, adaptable systems that can support future international market entries beyond the UK.
- • Align technical decisions with non-technical stakeholders across product, operations, and compliance functions.
- • Foster a culture of engineering excellence focused on correctness, scalability, and operational reliability.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of platform capabilities from initial design through production deployment and maintenance.
- • Actively identify systemic risks in international expansion and address them early in the design phase.
- • Maintain calm and focus under pressure during critical production incidents or tight delivery timelines.
- • Ensure systems are designed with global scalability in mind, accommodating future regulatory and market variations.
- • Promote strong communication and alignment between technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders in the UK and Malaysia.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong software engineering experience building production-grade backend or distributed systems
- • Proven experience leading technical delivery of complex systems or platform initiatives
- • Ability to design scalable system architecture across multiple services and domains
- • Strong understanding of APIs, backend systems and distributed system principles
- • Hands-on engineering capability with willingness to contribute to code and implementation
- • Experience working with cross-functional teams including product and operations
