- • Provide pivotal technical leadership for power island mechanical systems engineering activities, specifically supporting the deployment of GVH SMR plant technology (e.g., BWRX-300 Standard Plant) across diverse US and international sites.
- • Drive comprehensive engineering input for the development of new plant proposals, early works agreements, and innovative new product offerings, ensuring alignment with GEVO's strategic goals.
- • Spearhead the definition of clear work scopes and design inputs, meticulously ensuring they align with established design basis requirements for SMR site applications.
- • Oversee the meticulous development of engineering plans, schedules, critical deliverables, and resource allocation needs, guaranteeing effective workload planning and optimal resource utilization.
- • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, licensing, and project controls to proactively resolve complex technical issues and integration challenges.
- • Engage deeply with technical subject matter experts within the mechanical systems engineering discipline to ensure seamless alignment with system functions, performance criteria, and overall project requirements.
- • Actively coach, mentor, and provide growth opportunities for team members, nurturing a high-performing and continuously developing engineering team.

- • Provide expert guidance and direction to external partner engineering resources, ensuring the consistent quality and adherence to standards of all deliverables.

- • Lead and coordinate a small team of mechanical systems engineers, strategically assigning work based on project priorities, individual skillsets, and developmental goals to ensure effective workload planning and resource utilization.
- • Operate at the intersection of site applications engineering, team leadership, engineering project development, and engineering performance management, ensuring the overall project success of new site applications in the field of mechanical systems engineering.
- • Drive on-time and on-budget delivery of high-quality engineering technical products by proactively identifying risks, scope gaps, and execution challenges, and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- • Adapt mechanical systems designs to evolving codes, standards, and regulations, ensuring the continued relevance and compliance of GEVO's technology.
- • Leverage knowledge of diverse regulatory schemes (e.g., US NRC, CNSC, IAEA) to navigate complex compliance landscapes.
- • Apply earned value management principles and strategies for both proactive schedule management and the recovery of off-track engineering deliverables.
