- • As a Technical Sourcer at Monumental, you will play a critical role in scaling the company’s R&D team by identifying and engaging top-tier engineering talent in software, hardware, and related technical domains—people who are not actively looking but are essential to Monumental’s mission of automating on-site construction with robotics and software to enable beautiful, bespoke buildings to be built in a single day with minimal labour.
- • You will own the full lifecycle of technical sourcing and inbound pipeline management for R&D roles, partnering closely with hiring managers to deeply understand the nuances of each position—whether in software, mechanical, electrical, controls, perception, or forward deployments—and translating that insight into targeted, high-impact outreach strategies that resonate with passive candidates.
- • Your day-to-day will involve creative, research-intensive sourcing across unconventional channels such as personal websites, GitHub, academic citations, Discord servers, Substack newsletters, YouTube channels, and niche technical forums, crafting personalized, thoughtful outreach that stands out in a crowded market and drives meaningful engagement.
- • You will manage candidate experience from initial contact through to final interview, ensuring every interaction reflects Monumental’s values of excellence, respect, and innovation, while maintaining rigorous standards—preferring to delay a hire over compromising on quality.
- • You will continuously analyze sourcing metrics (response rates, conversion rates, time-to-hire, source effectiveness) to iterate rapidly on tactics, double down on what works, and optimize the hiring funnel for speed and precision across all R&D functions.
- • You will operate with significant autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment where priorities shift and processes evolve, taking ownership to identify gaps in workflows or sourcing strategies and proactively building solutions without waiting for direction.
- • You will become a trusted advisor to hiring managers by demonstrating deep technical fluency—enough to hold substantive conversations about what engineers build and why it matters—earning credibility through consistency, competence, and a genuine passion for technology and hard innovation.
- • You will contribute to Monumental’s culture of in-person collaboration (5 days/week at the office near Artis Zoo in Amsterdam) by helping bring together a world-class team of engineers and technicians from elite backgrounds (Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, Meta, 1X) who are building the future of construction.
- • In this role, you will develop expert-level skills in technical talent mapping, passive candidate engagement, data-driven recruiting optimization, and startup-scale hiring strategy—positioning yourself as a strategic talent partner in deep tech and hardtech ecosystems.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience sourcing for difficult-to-fill engineering roles, including software, hardware, or both, with the ability to identify and engage high-caliber passive candidates from your network or through research.
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of crafting personalized, thoughtful outreach messages that generate replies and building rapport quickly on initial calls.
- • High ownership mindset: you proactively identify inefficiencies in sourcing processes or workflows and take initiative to implement solutions without waiting for direction.
- • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments typical of early-stage startups, where priorities shift and processes evolve rapidly.
- • Genuine interest in technology and ability to engage in semi-technical conversations about engineering work, understanding what candidates build and why it matters.
- • Experience working in a VC-backed startup or scale-up, with familiarity navigating the dynamics of high-growth, high-ambition environments.
