📋 Description

• Own end-to-end sourcing and inbound pipeline for technical roles across software, mechanical, electrical, controls, perception, and forward deployments engineering at Monumental
• Proactively identify and engage passive engineering talent through unconventional channels including personal websites, GitHub repositories, academic citations, Discord communities, Substack publications, and YouTube channels
• Partner closely with hiring managers to deeply understand the technical scope, mission-critical objectives, and cultural fit of each R&D role to accurately represent Monumental’s vision to candidates
• Design and execute sourcing strategies that prioritize quality and technical depth over volume, ensuring only high-caliber candidates are presented to hiring teams
• Deliver a seamless, memorable candidate experience from first outreach through final interview stage, maintaining consistent communication and personalized engagement throughout
• Analyze and iterate on sourcing metrics to accelerate hiring velocity across R&D teams, using data to refine outreach tactics, channel performance, and pipeline efficiency
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with technical talent, often placing candidates across multiple organizations through trust-based, relationship-driven recruiting
• Craft highly personalized, human-centric outreach messages that stand out from generic templates, resulting in higher reply rates and meaningful candidate conversations
• Operate with significant autonomy in a fast-moving, ambiguity-rich startup environment where priorities shift rapidly and processes are continuously evolving
• Identify and solve inefficiencies in sourcing workflows, candidate pipelines, or tooling without waiting for direction, demonstrating high ownership and initiative
• Collaborate with the hiring team to align on hiring plan execution, ensuring speed and precision in filling mission-critical engineering roles
• Maintain deep familiarity with the European and Dutch startup ecosystem, understanding the talent landscape and competitive dynamics for hardtech and robotics roles
• Represent Monumental’s unique mission—automating on-site construction with robotics and software—to technically minded candidates who are not actively job searching
• Work exclusively on-site five days per week in Amsterdam’s Plantage neighborhood, adjacent to Artis zoo, with full access to the company’s in-house workshop and robot testing facility
• Adapt quickly to evolving role definitions, engineering priorities, and hiring needs as Monumental scales from 100 to a larger R&D team

🎯 Requirements

• You've sourced for tough-to-fill engineering roles before—software, hardware, or both—and can already identify engineers in your network who would be interested in Monumental
• You have high standards and would rather delay a search than present a mediocre candidate to a hiring manager
• You can hold a semi-technical conversation about what engineers build and why it matters, even if you are not an engineer yourself
• You have experience working for a VC-backed startup or scale-up
