- • Join Capita as a Trainee DSA Needs Assessor (Welsh Speaking) to support disabled university students across England and Wales through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) programme, working in partnership with the Student Loans Company (SLC) to deliver needs assessments, equipment sourcing, training, and ongoing support for approximately 30,000 students annually.
- • Conduct structured, person-centred needs assessment meetings with students to identify appropriate study strategies, support requirements, and recommend suitable assistive technology, hardware, software, and Non-Medical Helper (NMH) services, ensuring compliance with DSA funding guidance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- • Produce accurate, timely written needs assessment reports in accordance with SLC standards, respond to post-assessment queries within required timeframes, and conduct reviews of customer needs when requested, all while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and adherence to quality benchmarks.
- • Travel as needed to meet clients in person across East England, the Midlands, London, and Wales, balancing independent work with collaborative team engagement to uphold service excellence and shared goals.
- • Develop professional expertise in disability support, assistive technologies, and educational accessibility through comprehensive training, gaining qualifications to work with students experiencing a wide range of disabilities including physical, sensory, learning, and mental health conditions.
- • Contribute to a mission-driven team within Capita’s Government Services division, which has over 30 years of experience delivering public sector solutions and is a market leader in planning resilience and local government services, supporting over 100 Local Authority clients nationwide.

🎯 Requirements
- • Welsh language proficiency (spoken and written) to effectively communicate with Welsh-speaking students and stakeholders.
- • Exemplary communication skills, including active listening and clear, empathetic interaction with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- • Excellent report writing abilities with strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance with DSA guidance and KPIs.
- • Some experience working in an education or training setting, ideally with exposure to supporting disabled students.
- • Awareness of or willingness to learn DSA funding guidance and related policies administered by the Student Loans Company (SLC).
- • Ability to work independently and reliably to strict KPIs while maintaining high-quality output and demonstrating strong organisational skills.
