- • Nivoda Limited is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Treasury Associate to join our dynamic Finance team in Mumbai, India. This hybrid role is crucial for supporting our rapid global expansion as a leading B2B marketplace in the diamond, gemstone, and jewelry sectors. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of our high-transaction volume business, which spans multiple currencies and payment systems across the US, Europe, India, and APAC.
- • As a Treasury Associate, you will be instrumental in optimizing our cash flow planning, enhancing working capital management, and developing robust short- to medium-term liquidity forecasts. This position is perfect for an individual who thrives on understanding the intricate connections between operational drivers, financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), and future cash positions. You will take ownership of our weekly and monthly cash forecasts, ensuring funds are strategically positioned to meet operational demands, while simultaneously maximizing returns on surplus cash and minimizing idle balances.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to proactively identifying and addressing cash and working capital inefficiencies. This includes analyzing key metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), Days Payable Outstanding (DPO), optimizing bank account structures, managing banking fees, and mitigating foreign exchange (FX) risks. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including FP&A, Accounting, Sales, Collections, Procurement, and local business units, to implement impactful improvements.
- • **Key Responsibilities include:**
- • **Cash Flow Planning & Forecasting:** Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance short-term (13-week/weekly) and medium-term (3-12 month/monthly) cash flow forecasts across all entities and currencies. This involves translating complex business plans, sales pipelines, P&Ls, cash flow statements, and balance sheets into accurate and reliable cash projections. You will consolidate critical inputs from Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), FP&A, operations, Tax, and Payroll departments to create a unified and reconciled treasury view. A key part of this role is tracking forecast accuracy against actuals, providing insightful variance explanations, and refining forecasting methodologies. You will also conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to prepare for potential shifts in collections, FX rates, or payment terms.
- • **Liquidity & Cash Position Management:** Diligently monitor daily global cash positions across various banks, entities, and currencies to guarantee sufficient liquidity for all operational requirements. You will execute and track intercompany transfers, funding, and cash pooling activities in strict adherence to company policies and relevant regulations. A significant aspect of this role involves contributing to the design and maintenance of an optimal bank account structure (including operating, collection, disbursement, and escrow accounts) aimed at minimizing idle cash. You will also support the execution of short-term investment strategies and deposits, in line with treasury policy, to enhance yield on surplus cash, and assist in managing short-term debt facilities such as overdrafts and working capital lines, including monitoring utilization and interest expenses.
- • **Working Capital & Cash Efficiency:** Analyze and report on critical working capital Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including DSO, DPO, and the cash conversion cycle, segmented by region and key customer/supplier groups. You will proactively identify areas exhibiting higher-than-normal DSO or suboptimal DPO and collaborate with business owners in Sales, Collections, and Procurement to implement targeted improvement initiatives. Furthermore, you will highlight cash inefficiencies related to banking structures and account usage, such as trapped cash, non-interest-bearing balances, unnecessary FX conversions, and redundant accounts. Your role will involve supporting strategic initiatives focused on improving collections, optimizing payment terms, streamlining billing cycles, and refining settlement structures to unlock trapped cash.
- • **Banking, FX and Interest Management:** Manage day-to-day banking operations, including processing payments, handling collections, updating signatories, fulfilling KYC requests, and managing documentation. You will assist in nurturing bank relationships, understanding their pricing, fee structures, and interest terms, and conducting periodic benchmarking to ensure competitive arrangements. Prepare analytical reports on FX exposures stemming from our international operations and support the development of hedging or natural offset strategies as required. You will also monitor interest income and expenses to ensure the optimal utilization of banking products, such as current/term accounts, money market funds, and overdrafts, aligned with our cash profile.
- • **Controls, Compliance & Reporting:** Ensure all treasury activities strictly comply with internal policies, local regulations (including Indian banking and RBI guidelines), and audit requirements. Perform regular bank reconciliations and provide essential support to the Accounting team during month-end close processes related to cash, interest, FX, and bank charges. Maintain meticulous records of bank accounts, mandates, signatories, credit facilities, and guarantees. Prepare comprehensive management reports and dashboards detailing liquidity, cash forecasts, working capital status, and key treasury KPIs for senior finance leadership. Contribute to the development and documentation of Treasury policies, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and actively support internal and external audits.
- • **Systems, Data & Process Improvement:** Leverage and enhance treasury management systems to automate and standardize cash reporting and forecasting processes. Drive improvements in data quality and consistency across all source systems, including ERP, billing, AR/AP, and bank statements. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline payment processes, reconciliations, and reporting through automation and system integration, thereby increasing efficiency and accuracy.
