📋 Description

• Review and investigate reports of suspicious, abusive, fraudulent, or policy-violating activity across the Handshake platform, including user accounts, employer profiles, job postings, and messages.
• Enforce Handshake’s community guidelines, acceptable use policies, and marketplace standards accurately and consistently across all platform interactions.
• Identify patterns of abuse, fraud, spam, scams, impersonation, and other harmful behaviors through detailed analysis of user activity and platform data.
• Document all investigations clearly, including evidence reviewed, actions taken, and rationale for enforcement decisions to ensure auditability and consistency.
• Respond to escalations from internal teams such as Customer Support, Product, Legal, Security, and Operations with timely and thoughtful case resolution.
• Participate in queue-based moderation workflows while meeting quality and productivity expectations for high-volume case loads.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve detection methods, escalation protocols, and enforcement processes based on observed trends and emerging risks.
• Provide actionable feedback on policy gaps, tooling deficiencies, and operational inefficiencies to enhance platform safety and user trust.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold user privacy when handling sensitive or distressing content.
• Work scheduled shifts on Tuesdays–Saturdays (7am–4pm ET or 12–9pm PT) or Sundays–Thursdays (7am–4pm ET or 12–9pm PT) as assigned.
• Operate within a remote work environment while adhering to location requirements: must be physically located in AZ, DC, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NC, NM, NV, NJ, NY, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, or WI.
• Balance speed, accuracy, empathy, and sound judgment in daily casework to ensure fair and consistent enforcement across a diverse global user base.
• Support the integrity of Handshake’s AI-driven career platform by protecting students, employers, and educational institutions from harmful or deceptive activity.
• Contribute to the growth of a $1B+ run-rate business by ensuring a safe, reliable, and trustworthy environment for 25 million job seekers and 1 million+ employers.

🎯 Requirements

• 1–3+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, content moderation, fraud investigation, risk operations, marketplace integrity, customer support, or a related field.
• Strong judgment and ability to apply policies consistently to nuanced, ambiguous situations.
• Excellent attention to detail and comfort reviewing high volumes of platform activity.
• Clear written communication skills, including the ability to document decisions and explain complex issues concisely.
• Experience working with internal tools, ticketing systems, CRM platforms, or moderation queues.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive or distressing content with discretion.
