📋 Description

• As an Underwriting Analyst at Mudflap Inc., you will evaluate and assess creditworthiness to ensure sound lending decisions and minimize risk exposure, playing a critical role in supporting the company’s mission to serve the $800B trucking industry through innovative payment products that help truckers save on fuel costs.
• Day to day, you will assess loan applicants by analyzing financial data and credit reports, determine risk levels, evaluate policy exceptions, collaborate with internal teams to streamline underwriting, conduct periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and communicate decisions clearly to clients while resolving inquiries.
• Mudflap is a fast-growing, venture-backed marketplace business headquartered in Austin, TX and Palo Alto, CA, serving the trucking industry with fuel savings solutions and backed by investors like QED, Matrix Partners, and Commerce Ventures, with a team drawn from top tech and finance companies including Google, Meta, and Capital One.
• In this role, you will develop expertise in credit analysis, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, refine decision-making under pressure, and grow your impact in a high-growth fintech environment where attention to detail and customer obsession are valued.

🎯 Requirements

• Prior experience in consumer or small business underwriting
• Basic understanding of Excel and data entry platforms
• Strong written, oral communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks effectively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to develop and foster strong cross-functional partnerships
