Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Fundraise Up as a UX Researcher and play a pivotal role in shaping exceptional fundraising experiences for nonprofits worldwide. In this dynamic position, you will be instrumental in elevating the quality, speed, and strategic impact of research across our entire product suite. This role uniquely blends classic UX research methodologies with the strategic demands of Product Discovery, enabling you to explore new markets, identify emerging segments, and uncover innovative product opportunities.
  • • You will operate across both Business-to-Consumer (B2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B) contexts. This means you'll dive deep into understanding the needs and behaviors of donors interacting with our user-friendly checkout experiences, as well as the intricate workflows and requirements of nonprofit organizations and their staff who utilize our platform for managing their fundraising efforts.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to take research initiatives from our quarterly strategic plan and execute them from inception to completion. This comprehensive process involves understanding the initial brief, meticulously crafting research methodologies, conducting the research itself, rigorously analyzing the findings, synthesizing them into actionable insights, presenting these discoveries to stakeholders, and actively driving the implementation of resulting product decisions and improvements.
  • • A key aspect of this role is your ability to select the most appropriate research method for each unique challenge. Whether it's conducting in-depth interviews, performing usability tests, evaluating concepts, deploying surveys, undertaking desk research, or executing competitive analyses, your judgment will be crucial in aligning the chosen method with the level of uncertainty, the overarching business objectives, and the available timelines. You will be expected to clearly articulate the trade-offs associated with your methodological choices.
  • • You will be responsible for setting up and managing the logistical aspects of research studies. This includes securing access to necessary tools and data, coordinating participant recruitment and scheduling, managing session logistics, ensuring proper note-taking and recording, and maintaining organized documentation. We expect a high degree of autonomy and self-sufficiency in managing these operational details.
  • • As a vital connector within the organization, you will act as the cross-team “glue.” This involves proactively gathering hypotheses, context, and pain points from various departments, including Sales, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and Analytics. Your role will be to translate this valuable qualitative and quantitative input into well-defined, testable research questions that can be rigorously investigated.
  • • You will maintain a close connection with our product analytics, continuously monitoring dashboards and reports. You will collaborate closely with data analysts to identify anomalies, track user drop-off points, formulate hypotheses based on observed data, and prioritize research efforts to validate these hypotheses and uncover underlying user behaviors and motivations.
  • • Your output will be designed for immediate usability and impact. You will deliver clear, concise, and evidence-based findings, decisions, identified trade-offs, potential risks, and actionable recommendations. These insights will be supported by compelling evidence, including direct user quotes, video clips, and relevant metrics, ensuring that product teams have the information they need to make informed decisions.
  • • Maintaining an internal knowledge base is crucial. You will regularly review existing research, past studies, competitor intelligence, and industry trends to synthesize what is already known. This proactive approach ensures that new research efforts build upon existing knowledge and avoid redundant investigations, maximizing efficiency and impact.
  • • You will be the unwavering advocate for our users, ensuring their needs, pain points, and constraints are consistently represented and considered in all product development decisions. Your role is to champion user-centricity, moving beyond subjective opinions to grounded, data-driven insights.
  • • Furthermore, you will contribute to the team's collective knowledge by maintaining a "research radar." This involves scanning internal learnings, monitoring market and competitor movements, and staying abreast of high-signal UX and product developments. You will then share regular updates with the team, ensuring everyone remains current, informed, and aware of potential blind spots or emerging opportunities.
  • • Finally, you will embody exceptional empathy and care for people. Our users are nonprofits and donors – individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in the world. You will approach all participant interactions with the utmost respect, sensitivity, and adherence to the highest ethical standards, reflecting Fundraise Up's commitment to supporting those who do good.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience in independently managing research initiatives end-to-end, demonstrating a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • • A robust methodological toolkit coupled with strong judgment, enabling you to select the most appropriate research method for a given question, considering business goals, timelines, and uncertainty, and to clearly articulate associated trade-offs.
  • • Demonstrated experience working with both B2C and B2B products and understanding diverse user audiences.
  • • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken, as all research activities and presentations will be conducted in English.
  • • Ability to work effectively with product analytics, including reading dashboards, identifying anomalies or drop-offs, forming hypotheses, and validating them through research. Experience with PostHog/Tableau is a plus.
  • • Proactive approach to collecting input from Sales, Customer Success, Support, Marketing, and Analytics teams, and translating this information into testable research questions.
  • • Commitment to maintaining a high bar for research quality, characterized by structured methodologies and ethical practices.
  • • Proficiency in utilizing recruiting platforms and independently managing all research logistics, including participant access, scheduling, confirmations, and tool setup.
  • • Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance operational efficiency and synthesis processes (e.g., for generating guides, transcribing notes, identifying themes, drafting survey questions, summarizing findings) while retaining critical human judgment and methodological rigor.
  • • Understanding of core marketing terms and how they influence research and insights, even if not a marketing specialist.
  • • Ability to act as a source of new knowledge for the team by maintaining a "research radar" of internal learnings, market/competitor activities, and relevant UX/product sources, and sharing regular updates.
  • • Exceptional empathy and care for people, approaching participants with respect, sensitivity, and high ethical standards, particularly given the nature of our users (nonprofits and donors).

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Generous 31 days of paid time off annually.
  • • Comprehensive 100% paid telemedicine plan for your health needs.
  • • Home Office Setup Assistance: Support for purchasing essential furniture and equipment like office chairs, desks, and monitors to create an ergonomic and productive workspace.
  • • Opportunities for professional development through English learning courses.
  • • Support for relevant professional education and training to enhance your skills.
  • • Access to a gym or swimming pool membership for your well-being.
  • • Option to work from a co-working space if preferred.
  • • Fully remote working arrangement, offering flexibility and work-life balance.
