Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the architecture, design, and continuous evolution of Galaxy’s global network backbone, spanning 30+ data centers on five continents and supporting petabyte-scale digital-asset and AI workloads. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle—from high-level strategy down to packet-level optimization—ensuring sub-millisecond latency, 99.999% uptime, and bullet-proof security for billions of dollars in daily transaction volume.
- • Build, mentor, and scale a world-class Network Engineering organization of 40+ engineers, architects, and SREs distributed across North America, EMEA, and APAC. Define career ladders, performance frameworks, and a culture of relentless operational excellence that attracts top-tier talent and retains them for the long haul.
- • Drive multi-year technology roadmaps that balance bleeding-edge innovation with rock-solid reliability. Evaluate emerging protocols (SR-v6, RDMA over Converged Ethernet, 800G ZR/ZR+ optics), lead proof-of-concepts, and make build-vs-buy decisions that keep Galaxy two steps ahead of the market.
- • Serve as the executive escalation point for all critical network incidents, partnering with Security, Trading, and AI Research teams to perform root-cause analyses and implement preventive measures. Your post-mortems will become the gold standard across the industry.
- • Own vendor and carrier relationships at the C-suite level, negotiating multi-million-dollar contracts with Tier-1 ISPs, colocation providers, and hardware OEMs. Leverage economies of scale to drive down unit costs while increasing capacity and geographic reach.
- • Champion automation and infrastructure-as-code across every layer of the stack. Stand up CI/CD pipelines for network configurations, integrate telemetry into Prometheus/Grafana, and deploy self-healing systems that reduce MTTR from hours to minutes.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Compliance, and Risk teams to translate regulatory requirements (MiCA, Basel III, SOC 2 Type II) into technical controls, ensuring that network segmentation, encryption, and audit trails exceed the strictest global standards.
- • Spearhead sustainability initiatives that cut power per gigabit by 40% over the next three years through smart optics, liquid cooling, and AI-driven traffic engineering—aligning network growth with Galaxy’s net-zero commitment.
- • Present quarterly to the Board of Directors on network KPIs, capital allocation, and strategic risks. Translate complex technical metrics into clear business impact, securing buy-in for bold investments that maintain Galaxy’s competitive edge.
- • Represent Galaxy at industry conferences (NANOG, MWC, ONUG), publishing thought-leadership papers and contributing to open-source projects that shape the future of decentralized infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 15+ years of progressive experience designing and operating large-scale, low-latency networks in financial services, cloud, or high-performance computing environments, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing geographically distributed teams.
- • Deep expertise in carrier-grade routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN), plus hands-on proficiency with at least one major vendor stack (Cisco IOS-XR, Juniper Junos, Arista EOS).
- • Demonstrated success delivering 99.99%+ availability for mission-critical platforms, supported by quantifiable KPIs and published case studies or public post-mortems.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent expert-level certification strongly preferred.
- • Nice-to-have: Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline, experience with ultra-low-latency trading networks, and familiarity with quantum-safe cryptography and zero-trust architectures.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in destinations like Lisbon, Singapore, and Whistler—travel covered for you and a guest.
- • Competitive compensation package including base salary, annual performance bonus, and long-term equity in Galaxy’s rapidly appreciating stock.
- • Annual $10,000 professional-development stipend for certifications, conferences, and advanced degree programs, plus dedicated lab time with the latest 800G hardware.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents, plus a 401(k) with 6% company match and immediate vesting.
