Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • The Vice President of Paid Media owns a ~$15M P&L spanning Paid Media, Programmatic, and Creative pillars, reporting to the Managing Director, Performance, and accountable for client outcomes, retention, and work quality across all three areas.
  • • Day to day, the VP inspects work at critical client lifecycle moments—such as sales-to-ops handoff, kickoff, project phase, NSM setting, weekly/monthly updates, QBRs, 6-month strategy reviews, ABRs, and renewals—to ensure quality, challenge thinking, and align output with business goals.
  • • The VP leads through Associate Directors who manage billable consultants, establishing operating cadences, coaching on feedback and evaluation, calibrating quality standards, and holding AsDs accountable for client health and delivery quality—not just output.
  • • The role involves maintaining cross-functional credibility across Paid Media, Programmatic, and Creative, ensuring these pillars operate as an integrated system with discipline-appropriate quality standards, and contributing to broader Performance leadership discussions.
  • • The VP owns commercial outcomes including client goal attainment, NRR, gross profit margin, and MRR retention, managing pricing, staffing, resourcing, monitoring client health, supporting expansion, and tracking operational indicators.
  • • For priority accounts, the VP builds relationships with senior stakeholders, participates in QBRs, ABRs, and renewals, acts as an escalation point, and maintains deep understanding of client business models and goals.
  • • The VP develops Associate Directors into effective leaders and quality drivers, maintains visibility into strategist performance, partners with People Operations on hiring and development, and builds a pipeline of future leadership talent.
  • • Success is measured by commercial KPIs (client goal attainment, NRR, gross profit margin, MRR retention) and operational indicators (inspection coverage rate, AsD quality calibration, strategy-to-execution alignment, client escalation resolution time, pilot-to-contract conversion).
  • • The ideal candidate is a senior operator who leads through structure and presence at decisive moments, develops middle managers into real inspectors of work, raises quality floors through teaching and calibration, and understands that in a services business, the quality of the work is the product.
  • • The VP must be credible across all three pillars without being the deepest expert in any one, able to read and push back on paid search audits, creative briefs, and programmatic plans with substance, and apply appropriate evaluation criteria by discipline.
  • • The role requires knowing when to be present (at key inflection points) and when to be absent (to enable team autonomy), owning a $15M P&L, and recognizing that every client outcome traces back to a moment where work was inspected—or wasn’t.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 10+ years of paid media leadership experience with demonstrated ownership of multi-channel paid practices at scale.
  • • Experience managing middle managers (Associate Directors, Group Directors, or equivalent) with teams of billable consultants under them.
  • • P&L ownership experience, including responsibility for gross margin and commercial outcomes.
  • • Fluency across multiple paid channels (search, social, programmatic) with sufficient depth to inspect strategy and execution credibly.
  • • Demonstrated experience developing middle managers into senior leaders.
  • • Agency or consulting background with exposure to B2B, B2C, or performance-driven client portfolios (preferred).
  • • Experience integrating Creative into Paid Media practices or leading cross-functional teams including Creative talent (preferred).
  • • Experience managing programmatic at scale, including DSP partnerships and first-party data strategy (preferred).

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Compensation includes a competitive base salary + strong bonus package.
  • • Medical, dental, vision plans, disability, and life insurance coverage for you and your family, with 100% employer-paid plan for you and 50% employer contribution for dependents (US, CAD, MX).
  • • Mental health support: Access to certified therapists through Spring Health and membership to Headspace.
  • • Physical wellness: Physical therapy through Omada, thousands of Aaptiv virtual workouts, complimentary One Medical membership for primary and virtual care.
  • • Time off: Unlimited PTO (2-week minimum), paid company holidays, birthday off, end-of-year recharge (closed Dec 24–Jan 1), paid parental leave.
  • • Financial benefits: Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a 3% company match.
  • • Additional perks: Annual bonus based on tenure (scales over time), annual company-wide retreat.
  • • Remote-first work environment with ability to work from home office in Canada; required to operate laptop (PC/Mac), software platforms, and office productivity tools.
