đź“‹ Description
- • Condor Software Inc. is at a pivotal moment, moving beyond concept validation to become an indispensable financial intelligence layer for the biopharma industry. We are seeking a visionary and hands-on VP of Engineering to build and scale the engineering operating system that underpins our mission-critical platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of how life-saving therapies reach patients by ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our AI-driven infrastructure.
- • As the VP of Engineering, you will be instrumental in establishing and owning the pragmatic, high-signal software development lifecycle. This includes defining and implementing effective planning cadences, lightweight specification processes, robust code review norms, rigorous testing disciplines, streamlined release management, and a responsive incident response framework. The goal is to foster an environment of speed and rigor, not bureaucracy, ensuring we can ship with confidence and agility.
- • You will define, track, and own key engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as delivery predictability, product quality, system uptime, incident Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and development cycle time. Creating clear visibility into these metrics for leadership and the engineering team will be crucial for driving continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
- • A core responsibility will be to create and refine an execution model that reliably translates roadmap commitments into shipped product. This involves fostering tight feedback loops between engineering, product, and other stakeholders, establishing clear lines of ownership, and implementing crisp prioritization mechanisms to ensure the team is focused on the most impactful initiatives.
- • Leading the architecture and technical strategy for a regulated, high-stakes environment is paramount. You will ensure our platform is built with a strong emphasis on reliability, auditability, data integrity, and security-by-default, meeting the stringent requirements of our enterprise biopharma customers.
- • Driving operational excellence is key to building a platform that customers can trust. This includes establishing robust on-call rotations, comprehensive observability practices, proactive performance tuning, and dedicated stability work. As usage and data volumes grow, maintaining high uptime and ensuring the platform remains stable and performant will be critical for customer confidence and retention.
- • You will cultivate a strong culture of quality and resilience throughout the engineering organization. This involves implementing practices that proactively prevent regressions, minimize operational toil, and continuously enhance the safety and robustness of our product releases, making it easier and safer to ship new features and improvements every week.
- • Partnering closely with the Product Management team, you will translate ambiguous customer needs into clear, actionable engineering plans. This includes defining technical tradeoffs, setting realistic milestones, and ensuring engineering execution aligns with Condor's enterprise motion, particularly for complex workflows spanning multiple systems and stakeholders.
- • You will take ownership of the challenging aspects of scaling our platform, including optimizing performance, enhancing data pipelines, managing complex integrations, refining our permissions models, and developing the core platform primitives that accelerate future feature delivery.
- • Ensuring engineering execution directly supports Condor's enterprise go-to-market strategy is vital. This means delivering predictably, executing secure deployments, and maintaining a strong customer trust posture that reinforces our position as a reliable partner.
- • A significant part of this role involves recruiting and retaining top-tier engineering talent. You will build the initial engineering organization with A-level builders who possess the dynamic range to thrive in a fast-paced Series A environment – individuals who are product-minded, accountable, and capable of shipping across the full stack.
- • As the team grows, you will build the foundational layer of engineering leadership, including tech leads and/or managers. You will coach and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and effective collaboration to continuously raise the bar for the entire team.
- • You will establish a high-velocity, high-quality recruiting and onboarding engine in close partnership with our operations and HR functions, ensuring we can attract and integrate talent efficiently.
- • This is a hands-on leadership role where you will operate with a high degree of dynamic range. You will be comfortable zooming in to debug production issues, root-cause problems, and unblock shipping, while simultaneously zooming out to design scalable systems and organizational structures for the next 12-24 months.
- • You will represent the engineering function with clarity, credibility, and conviction to executive leadership, customers, and potentially the board. This includes effectively communicating technical tradeoffs, associated risks, project timelines, and necessary investment requirements.
- • Ultimately, you will be responsible for building a durable engineering function that can scale beyond its current stage, ensuring Condor remains the trusted financial intelligence layer powering the next era of clinical development and helping bring critical therapies to patients faster.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience building and scaling engineering teams in high-growth, early-to-mid-stage technology companies, successfully taking products from early traction to a mature, reliable platform.
- • Demonstrated ability to operate with high dynamic range: comfortable with hands-on technical work (debugging, architecture) while also possessing the strategic vision to design scalable systems and organizational structures.
- • Strong product sense and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of partnering effectively with Product Management and Go-To-Market teams to translate customer needs into technical execution plans and manage tradeoffs.
- • Experience implementing pragmatic Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices (planning, specs, code reviews, testing, release management, incident response) that drive operational rigor and high uptime without hindering development velocity.
- • Exceptional talent acquisition and development capabilities, with a proven ability to attract, recruit, and retain high-caliber engineers and build a strong leadership bench.
- • Leadership qualities characterized by humility, directness, high ownership, transparency, and the ability to drive alignment and build trust across diverse stakeholders.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package in a high-growth Series A company.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • Remote-first work environment with flexibility.
- • Opportunity to build foundational infrastructure that will shape the future of the biopharma industry.
- • Direct impact on a mission-critical platform used by leading biopharma companies.
- • Professional development opportunities and a culture that values learning and growth.
