- • The Writing Specialist role at xAI Corporation is pivotal in advancing Grok’s writing capabilities by evaluating, refining, and creating elite-level writing across diverse genres and formats. This position directly contributes to the company’s mission of building AI systems that understand the universe and aid humanity’s pursuit of knowledge through high-quality, expert-level text generation.
- • As a Writing Specialist, you will use proprietary tools to label, annotate, and refine AI-generated text for clarity, structure, engagement, and domain-specific accuracy, leveraging your expertise in one or more Writing Specialty areas such as Creative Fiction, Technical, Journalistic, or Grant Writing to curate data that improves Grok’s outputs.
- • You will collaborate closely with engineers and other specialists to design tasks that enhance AI writing proficiency, continuously improve annotation workflows for efficiency, and remain adaptable to pivot into secondary writing or non-writing tasks as needed to support Grok’s overall development.
- • The role is embedded within xAI’s small, highly motivated, and flat organizational structure, where initiative, hands-on contribution, and engineering excellence are valued. You will work alongside a team passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI through curiosity, strong prioritization, and clear communication.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in AI-assisted writing refinement, gain experience in shaping large language model outputs through expert annotation, and contribute to cutting-edge AI development while honing your editorial, analytical, and collaborative skills in a remote-first, innovation-driven environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven proficiency in English and verifiable qualifications in at least one Writing Specialty area (e.g., Creative Fiction, Technical, Journalistic, Grant Writing, etc.), with documented proof such as URLs, ISBNs, or award sites.
- • Ability to critique and refine AI-generated text for readability, logical flow, grammar, consistency, style, creativity, and reader immersion, supported by strong attention to detail and experience with style guides and reference materials.
- • Flawless grammar, spelling, clarity, and precision, combined with superlative communication, interpersonal, analytical, and editorial skills, and a commitment to developing AI that produces expert-level writing.
