đź“‹ Description
- • Lead and manage a team of 6+ software engineers focused on backend, infrastructure, and AI-enabled intelligence systems that power Clubhouse’s core product.
- • Partner with a platform lead to define and execute technical direction, balancing architectural rigor with rapid iteration in a fast-paced, AI-driven environment.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives, translating product vision and technical constraints into clear, sequenced monthly roadmaps with measurable impact.
- • Drive engineering excellence by establishing and promoting high-quality code standards, scalable system design, and efficient development processes that support growth from thousands to millions of users.
- • Enable AI-assisted development across the platform by evaluating, integrating, and optimizing modern AI tooling into the engineering workflow and codebase.
- • Collaborate closely with product, data, finance, and trust & safety teams to identify high-impact opportunities in cost efficiency, performance optimization, and user safety.
- • Lead incident response and resolution processes, improving system reliability and developer experience through proactive tooling and process enhancements.
- • Work with recruiting to source, hire, and onboard top-tier engineering talent aligned with Clubhouse’s mission and technical needs.
- • Coach and develop engineers by providing regular feedback, charting individual career paths, and fostering a culture of growth, psychological safety, and high engagement.
- • Prioritize work based on complexity and ROI, demonstrating a bias for action and comfort with ambiguity while maintaining clarity for cross-functional stakeholders.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical teams and non-technical leaders, ensuring alignment across product, engineering, and executive functions.
- • Champion a low-ego, collaborative culture that values diversity, inclusion, and team success over individual recognition.
- • Contribute to the strategic evolution of Clubhouse’s social voice platform, helping build products that enable meaningful human connection at scale.
- • Maintain hands-on technical fluency—participating in design discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions—while not expected to code daily.
- • Support the company’s remote-first culture by enabling distributed team success through clear communication, asynchronous workflows, and intentional team bonding.
- • Act as a bridge between engineering and executive leadership, converting high-level business goals into actionable technical strategies and resource plans.
🎯 Requirements

- • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams of 6+ engineers
- • Proven track record of hiring, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineers
- • Proficiency with modern AI tooling and experience enabling AI-assisted development in production systems
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical complexity for diverse audiences
- • Experience driving technical strategy and roadmaps in fast-paced, high-growth environments
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first work environment with full flexibility across the U.S.
- • Opportunity to build next-generation social products backed by a16z and top-tier investors
- • Access to a talented, mission-driven team focused on learning, teaching, and innovation
