(Senior) Product Compliance Manager

📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end global market-access and compliance roadmap for a fast-growing consumer-tech company whose flagship product is an award-winning, motion-driven interactive play system. You will be the single point of accountability for ensuring every hardware device, accessory, and firmware release can be sold legally and safely in every target market—from the US and EU to APAC and the Middle East.
• • Architect and continuously refine a living regulatory-requirements matrix that maps every product SKU against every applicable standard, directive, and certification scheme (CE/UKCA, FCC/ISED, RCM, KC, NCC, SRRC, etc.). This matrix will become the single source of truth for engineering, product, supply-chain, and executive teams.
• • Translate complex regulatory language into clear, time-bound action plans. Identify certification risks early, quantify cost and schedule impacts, and present mitigation options to senior leadership so go-to-market dates stay locked.
• • Manage the full lifecycle of pre-compliance and formal certification: scope definition, RFQ, lab selection, scheduling, test-witnessing, failure analysis, and issue resolution. You will personally own the relationship with accredited testing labs and Notified Bodies across three continents.
• • Drive post-market surveillance and change-control governance. When firmware updates, component substitutions, or manufacturing tweaks occur, you will decide whether re-testing, new filings, or labeling changes are required, and then coordinate execution with JDM/ODM partners and internal hardware teams.
• • Serve as the compliance conscience in every design review and sprint planning session. Translate “what engineers want to build” into “what regulators will allow,” while still protecting the magic that makes the product fun for kids and trusted by parents.
• • Build and scale a repeatable compliance playbook that shortens certification cycles by 20–30 % within your first 12 months. Document templates, decision trees, and risk registers so future product lines inherit your institutional knowledge.
• • Champion privacy-by-design alongside safety-by-design. Collaborate with legal, security, and UX teams to ensure GDPR, COPPA, and other child-data regulations are baked into hardware, firmware, and cloud features—no retrofits, no surprises.
• • Present compliance status, budget forecasts, and risk heat-maps to the executive team on a monthly cadence. When trade-offs arise between cost, time, and feature scope, you will provide data-driven recommendations that protect both brand reputation and revenue.
• • Mentor junior compliance engineers and cultivate a culture where “regulatory excellence” is viewed as a competitive advantage, not a bottleneck. Your influence will extend beyond your own deliverables to shape how the entire organization thinks about quality, safety, and trust.
