Trusted by over 400,000 customers, Workato enables organizations of all sizes to achieve agility and unlock new value in a rapidly evolving world.
  • • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff / Senior Infrastructure Engineer to become an integral part of our Infrastructure Storage team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the evolution and operational excellence of our critical database platform, ensuring its robustness and scalability.
  • • In this role, you will be instrumental in building, scaling, and operating our ClickHouse clusters and other vital databases, all deployed on Kubernetes. Your expertise will directly impact the reliability and performance of Workato's enterprise automation platform, which processes billions of events daily, handling immense volumes of data with precision and speed.
  • • As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on the Infra-Storage team, you will architect and manage the foundational database infrastructure that underpins Workato's distributed and highly available platform. You will take ownership of key technical initiatives, focusing on the deployment, optimization, and ongoing management of ClickHouse within the Kubernetes ecosystem.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating closely with our Data Engineering and Platform teams, fostering a synergistic approach to infrastructure development and maintenance. You will be a driving force behind automation efforts, continuously seeking ways to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and operability of our entire database fleet.
  • • Key responsibilities include the end-to-end design, deployment, and meticulous maintenance of ClickHouse clusters at a global scale, ensuring seamless operation within Kubernetes environments. You will also be responsible for building and operating the infrastructure for a variety of other database technologies, including PostgreSQL and OpenSearch, all managed within Kubernetes.

This includes automating database provisioning, dynamic scaling to meet fluctuating demands, robust backup strategies, and efficient recovery processes, minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
  • • You will be tasked with optimizing database performance, enhancing overall system reliability, and ensuring efficient resource utilization within our containerized infrastructure. This requires a deep understanding of database internals and Kubernetes orchestration.
  • • Creating and maintaining Kubernetes operators and manifests specifically designed for database workloads will be a core function, enabling declarative management and automated lifecycle operations for our databases.

  • • Leading incident response efforts for any database-related issues is crucial. You will be responsible for swift resolution, thorough root cause analysis, and conducting comprehensive post-mortem processes to prevent recurrence and drive continuous improvement.
  • • Close collaboration with Data Engineers and application teams is essential for effective architecture design and proactive capacity planning, ensuring our infrastructure can support current and future business needs.
  • • You will also contribute to building internal tooling designed to enhance database observability, providing deeper insights into system health, performance metrics, and operational workflows, enabling proactive problem-solving.
  • • This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies in a fast-paced, innovative environment, contributing directly to the success of a rapidly growing SaaS company. You will be empowered to make significant technical decisions and drive impactful changes within the infrastructure domain.
  • • We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative setting, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and is passionate about building and operating highly scalable and reliable systems. Your contributions will be vital to Workato's mission of simplifying complex business processes through powerful automation and integration.
