- • Nerdy Inc. is seeking a hands-on Accessibility Engineer to continuously identify, remediate, and verify WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility issues directly in the production codebase, owning the full accessibility lifecycle across multiple product experiences in a fast-paced, AI-native environment.
- • Day to day, the role involves running accessibility tests across Landing/Lead Pages, Student Experience, Tutor Experience, and Admin/Teacher Experience using screen readers, keyboard navigation, and automated tools; writing and shipping code fixes for ARIA labels, semantic HTML, focus management, color contrast, and keyboard navigability; leveraging AI-assisted tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate remediation; supporting annual VPAT compliance; and ensuring new products and features are accessibility-tested and remediated upon launch.

🎯 Requirements
- • 2+ years of hands-on experience in accessibility testing AND remediation (not audit-only roles)
- • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria
- • Proficiency with assistive technologies: screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation
- • Ability to write and ship code fixes: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (familiarity with ARIA attributes, semantic markup, focus management)
- • Experience with accessibility testing tools (axe, Lighthouse, WAVE, Pa11y, or similar)
- • Comfort using AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, or similar)
