- • WeTravel, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team in Amsterdam. As our company continues its rapid global expansion, we are committed to building a world-class finance function that not only ensures the utmost accuracy and compliance but also provides strategic financial insights to empower informed decision-making across all departments. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the financial backbone of a thriving global platform, moving beyond traditional accounting tasks to actively shape our financial processes.
- • At WeTravel Finance, we operate with agility and a strong emphasis on autonomy. We are not just managing spreadsheets; we are architecting the financial infrastructure that supports our international growth. We seek individuals who demonstrate a profound sense of ownership, are passionate about both the methodology and the outcome of their work, and thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with high visibility. You will be an integral part of a supportive team, guided by experienced professionals, and presented with ample opportunities for career advancement in a fast-paced, innovative setting.
- • Our team's operations and interactions are guided by four foundational core values: Respect, Honesty, Resourcefulness, and Solution-Orientation. We foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that celebrates diverse perspectives and unique life experiences. Transparency is our default, building genuine connections through radical honesty. We encourage creative thinking and proactive problem-solving, finding innovative ways to achieve success even when the path is not clearly defined. Most importantly, we adopt a solution-first mindset, collaborating effectively to address challenges and drive improvements.
- • In this pivotal role, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities, including:
- • **Accounts Payable & Cash Management:** You will own the end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) process, from meticulously posting invoices to accurately matching bank and cash movements. A key part of your role will involve presenting the weekly AP and Cash Talk to the Finance team and management, providing crucial insights into payment strategies and fund management. You will also be responsible for managing the dedicated accounting email inbox and ensuring efficient data entry and reconciliations.
- • **Reconciliations & Expense Management:** You will independently perform weekly bank reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Furthermore, you will manage employee expenses through our third-party Travel & Expense (T&E) platform, Ramp, and meticulously review all spend to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and compliance with company policies.
- • **Month-End Close Tasks:** You will take ownership of critical mid-level month-end closing procedures and reconciliations. This includes, but is not limited to, managing accruals, fixed assets, payroll liabilities, intangible assets, and VAT returns. A significant aspect of your role will involve Classification Controls, ensuring that all invoices are correctly recorded in the General Ledger (GL) and that expenses are accurately mapped to their respective departments. You will also be tasked with investigating cash reconciling items, particularly within a high-volume, low-dollar transaction business environment.
- • **Other Key Contributions:** Beyond these core areas, you will provide essential support to the broader finance team on various ad-hoc reconciliation tasks and special projects. Your expertise will also be invaluable in supporting the team through annual and quarterly financial audits, reviews, and compilations, ensuring our financial reporting meets the highest standards.
- • This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring three days per week in our vibrant Amsterdam office (specifically Monday, Thursday, and Friday). To facilitate a seamless onboarding experience and foster strong team integration, we require the successful candidate to work fully in the office for the initial months. This arrangement will be periodically re-evaluated as you become more integrated and proficient in your role. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, celebrating the unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of all our employees. We encourage all qualified individuals who are excited about this opportunity to apply and join us in revolutionizing the travel industry.
