📋 Description

• • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close from soup to nuts—prepare and review journal entries, reconcile every balance-sheet account, and deliver GAAP-compliant financial statements that leadership trusts to make multi-million-dollar decisions.
• • Become the resident expert on SaaS revenue recognition, managing deferred revenue waterfalls, usage-based billing, and customer-credit memos while partnering with SalesOps to ensure every contract is booked correctly and every renewal is forecasted accurately.
• • Design and automate repeatable workflows inside our ERP (NetSuite) and adjacent data stack (SQL, Python, or low-code tools) so that month-end tasks that once took days now run in hours and can scale with 4 million users and counting.
• • Build the internal-control framework that will impress auditors and investors alike—document policies, segregation-of-duty matrices, and approval hierarchies that transform Scribe from startup hustle to IPO-ready discipline.
• • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors—coordinate PBC schedules, walkthroughs, and technical memos so that our Series C audit finishes ahead of schedule and without material adjustments.
• • Partner with FP&A to turn historical data into forward-looking insight: deliver budget-to-actual bridges, flux analyses, and KPI dashboards that help Product, Marketing, and Engineering understand how their decisions flow through to cash.
• • Own the accounts-payable cycle end-to-end—approve vendor invoices, enforce three-way matching, schedule ACH/check runs, and negotiate early-pay discounts that directly improve burn-multiple optics.
• • Collaborate cross-functionally with Data, Engineering, and Product teams to embed accounting logic into new feature launches (e.g., self-serve upgrades, usage metering) so that revenue is captured correctly on day one instead of retro-fitted on day ninety.
• • Mentor junior accounting staff and future hires; create onboarding checklists, desk procedures, and lunch-and-learn sessions that raise the bar for technical excellence across the Finance org.
• • Contribute to strategic projects such as international expansion, multi-currency consolidations, and new pricing models—translate complex technical accounting issues into plain-English recommendations for the executive team.
• • Maintain an auditable trail of support for every number we publish—whether it’s a board deck, an investor data room, or a due-diligence request—so that stakeholders never have to ask “where did this come from?”
