- • The Accounting Practice Manager leads the review and delivery of high-quality accounting and tax services across a large portfolio of SME clients, ensuring compliance and accuracy at scale in a tech-enabled environment.
- • Day to day, the role involves reviewing and approving accounts, corporation tax returns, and VAT returns prepared by an outsourced team; managing a growing portfolio of SME clients as their primary escalation point; handling complex client queries via phone, Teams, and email; overseeing quality assurance of outsourced bookkeeping and accounts production; developing standardised review processes and a centralised client FAQ library; mentoring junior colleagues; and staying current with UK accounting standards and HMRC guidance.

The company is a certified B Corp and Carbon Neutral Business with £18m annual revenue and £9m ARR, forecast to grow 5x–10x over the next three years.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead a newly created Accounting-as-a-Service division from the ground up, develop standardised processes at scale, mentor junior staff, and progress into leadership as the practice expands, all while working in a culture that values ownership, impact, and continuous improvement.
🎯 Requirements
- • ACA or ACCA qualification
- • 10–14 years of total accounting experience in UK-based practice
- • Background from a recognised top 20–60 accounting firm with manager or senior manager level experience
- • Experience in smaller or mid-size practices to gain breadth across industries, client types, and service lines
- • Experience managing a portfolio of 100+ clients; 200–300+ is a strong advantage
- • Deep knowledge of UK corporation tax, personal tax, VAT, and FRS 102/105
- • Proficiency with Xero
- • Confident reviewing accounts at pace and volume
- • Strong communicator with a proactive, commercially minded approach
