- • The Acute Coding Appeals Specialist role is critical to Ensemble Health Partners’ mission of keeping hospitals healthy by ensuring accurate medical coding and successful appeals for inpatient DRG denials, directly impacting revenue cycle integrity and client satisfaction.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and writing appeals for DRG denials using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS, NCCI, CMS, and CMG coding expertise; maintaining detailed documentation of root cause issues; participating in client system education; assisting in training for client coding companions; meeting productivity standards; attending in-house coding updates; and delivering excellent customer service while upholding a positive attitude.

🎯 Requirements
- • Previous inpatient facility coding experience with hands-on work in appeals, denials, and edits
- • Minimum of 5 years of professional medical coding experience
- • Active certification in medical coding (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, CPC, COC, or equivalent)
- • Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS, NCCI, CMS, and CMG coding systems and regulatory requirements
- • Willingness and ability to travel to client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require
- • Demonstrated inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including exploration of AI to improve processes and patient/client experiences
