📋 Description

• Lead and mature the enterprise-wide AI Governance program, ensuring the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence across American Family Insurance.
• Accountable for the strategic implementation and ongoing administration of AI policies and standards, fostering a culture of trust, safety, and human-centricity.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team of AI Governance specialists, setting clear goals and objectives to drive individual and enterprise success.
• Refine team operations and processes to enhance capabilities, improve efficiency, and ensure the robust execution of AI Governance initiatives.
• Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive training curricula on responsible AI practices, ensuring the workforce is up-to-date and proficient in AI governance requirements.
• Design and scale technical and process controls to mitigate risks, including the prevention of enterprise data exfiltration and adherence to related enterprise policies.
• Conduct and document thorough AI assessments for various use cases, including AmFam's internal GenAI assistant, in-house AI development, third-party AI deployments, regulatory change management, and external communications.
• Collaborate closely with the Third Party Risk Management team to establish and implement effective due diligence processes for third-party AI solutions.
• Organize and facilitate meetings with the AI Governance Council, comprising representatives from enterprise risk, legal, privacy, compliance, information security, and other key stakeholders, to ensure the program remains compliant and incorporates diverse perspectives.
• Produce key metrics and comprehensive reports on team progress, program maturation, and the overall effectiveness of AI Governance practices to inform leadership and stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving AI Governance landscape, including best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes, particularly within the insurance industry.
• Drive innovation in AI Governance by identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies and methodologies to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
• Partner with Technology and business units to embed AI Governance principles into the AI development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Ensure that AI solutions align with American Family's strategic objectives, risk appetite, and commitment to ethical AI principles.
• Champion the adoption of AI Governance best practices throughout the organization, acting as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry groups, and technology partners.
• Proactively identify and assess potential risks associated with AI technologies and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to the development of a long-term vision and roadmap for AI Governance at American Family.
• Ensure that all AI initiatives are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages continuous learning and professional development.
• Drive continuous improvement within the AI Governance function, seeking opportunities to optimize processes and enhance outcomes.
• Communicate complex AI Governance concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including technical teams, business leaders, and executive management.
• Translate regulatory requirements and industry best practices into actionable AI Governance policies and procedures.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep expertise and current understanding of the evolving discipline of AI Governance, including best practices, trends, and the regulatory landscape (insurance industry-specific knowledge is a plus).
• 5+ years of AI Governance and management experience, coupled with a bachelor's degree or higher.
• Proven experience in building, managing, and leading high-performing teams to address complex problems.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally, to inform and influence direct reports, peers, and leaders.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to balance organizational priorities related to data privacy, cybersecurity, innovation, and customer experience.
