Staff Software Engineer (Ledger)

📋 Description

• • As a Staff Software Engineer on the Ledger team at Puzzle.io, you will own meaningful backend initiatives end-to-end, from scoping through shipping and iteration, to enhance and extend the company's financial engine with new functionality, reporting capabilities, and deeper system interconnectivity.
• • Day to day, you will design and evolve APIs that power reporting, insights, and client-facing product experiences, improve performance, observability, and resilience across core systems, and contribute to forward-looking architecture such as multi-currency and multi-entity support where thoughtful design today unlocks scale tomorrow.
• • You will partner with Product, Data, and Design to turn complex accounting workflows into scalable, high-leverage solutions that accelerate customer outcomes, while raising the technical bar through thoughtful design reviews, high-quality code, and proactive mentorship to amplify team velocity and impact.
• • The team at Puzzle has rebuilt the general ledger from scratch for modern accounting firms, enabling real-time accuracy, auditability, and automation at scale—giving accounting professionals infrastructure they’ve never had, and you will help define how AI-powered accounting products work in the real world during a pivotal moment in the industry.
• • In this role, you can learn and achieve deep expertise in financial systems engineering, influence company strategy, and work on systems where correctness is non-negotiable, with sophisticated users who stress-test every edge case, all while operating in a high-agency environment that values judgment, long-term integrity, and technical excellence.
