📋 Description

• Own a focused AI workstream within n8n’s platform, shaping how users interact with AI-driven automation through product design, iteration, and user feedback.
• Build and refine AI trust layers including evals, observability, traces, guardrails, reliability, latency, cost management, debugging tools, and human-in-the-loop patterns to make AI behavior transparent and production-ready.
• Develop AI-native product surfaces such as Super Agent, custom memory, Skills, computer/browser interaction, file handling, chat-first building, and proactive suggestions to shift meaningful usage toward AI-assisted workflow creation.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Product Marketing, DevRel, Community, Support, and Customer Success teams to align product vision with technical feasibility and user needs.
• Translate ambitious, ambiguous AI ideas into concrete product experiences that users can trust, understand, and build upon — prioritizing clarity, safety, and usability over theoretical potential.
• Conduct and shape eval suites to measure AI performance, consistency, and safety across workflows — not just talk about evaluation frameworks, but implement and iterate on them.
• Leverage deep, hands-on experience with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, n8n, or similar platforms to inform product decisions and prototype solutions quickly.
• Understand the practical constraints of agentic systems including tool loops, planners, scaffolding, and context management to build realistic, scalable AI workflows.
• Define and prioritize product trade-offs based on user value, quality, and feasibility — making clear, first-principles decisions in the absence of perfect data.
• Demonstrate strong UX taste by identifying what makes an interface feel intuitive, polished, or broken — and articulate why certain designs succeed or fail for technical users.
• Work in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where product judgment directly influences the direction of a platform used by 650,000+ builders.
• Communicate clearly through writing, diagrams, and discussions — reason from first principles and bring cross-functional teams along in complex product decisions.
• Stay deeply engaged with the AI product landscape, following emerging tools, patterns, and failures to inform your product thinking and avoid reinventing the wheel.
• Embrace ambiguity by creating structure from fuzzy problems, defining progress metrics, and driving forward even when multiple viable paths exist.
• For senior candidates: Lead 0-to-1 AI product initiatives from problem discovery through launch and iteration, owning outcomes including user adoption, retention, and system reliability.
• For earlier-career candidates: Show high learning velocity, rapid shipping of prototypes, and visible building through public demos, open-source contributions, writing, or talks.
• Use data fluency (SQL, funnels, product metrics) to inform decisions while maintaining healthy skepticism about what metrics can and cannot reveal about user behavior.
• Influence without direct authority by aligning engineering, design, and go-to-market teams around shared product goals and trade-offs.
• Contribute to a culture of transparency, where everyone has visibility into company goals, product roadmaps, and performance metrics.
• Participate in regular hackathons and internal innovation events to experiment with n8n’s capabilities and push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI automation.
• Use your $100/month open-source stipend to support tools and projects that improve the broader builder ecosystem.
• Utilize your unlimited AI budget to explore, test, and integrate the latest AI tools to enhance your productivity and creativity.
• Work remotely across Europe and the US, with occasional team off-sites to foster connection and collaboration.

🎯 Requirements

• Builder track record: you’ve made things with AI, not just described them. This could mean shipped products, serious prototypes, public projects, agent workflows, eval suites, or tools used by real people.
• AI-native by default: you use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, n8n, or similar regularly, and you follow the AI product space closely.
• Eval practice: you’ve built or meaningfully shaped evals, not just talked about them.
• Harness literacy: you understand tool loops, planners, scaffolding, context management, and the practical constraints of agentic systems.
• Strong product instincts: you think clearly about trade-offs, user value, product quality, and what should or should not be built.
• UX taste: you know what good looks like and what beautiful UX feels like. You can explain why one product feels great and another feels off.
