📋 Description

• As an AI Product Development Coach at Leland Technologies Inc., you will play a pivotal role in guiding aspiring and current product professionals to successfully integrate artificial intelligence into real-world product development, directly supporting Leland’s mission to democratize access to expert knowledge and unlock human potential through personalized coaching.
• Your expertise will empower mentees to navigate the complexities of AI-driven innovation, from conceptualizing AI product strategies to implementing LLM-optimized solutions, thereby accelerating their career trajectories and contributing to the growth of a globally impactful edtech platform.
• You will work one-on-one with engineers, product managers, and designers who are actively building or seeking to build AI-powered products, providing tailored, actionable feedback based on your real-world experience in leading tech companies or high-growth startups.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting virtual coaching sessions where you help mentees define AI product vision and roadmap, identify high-impact use cases, and prioritize features based on feasibility, user value, and technical constraints.
• You will guide mentees through rapid prototyping using AI tools—such as generative design, synthetic data generation, and AI-assisted wireframing—to validate concepts quickly and iteratively, reducing time-to-insight and increasing experimentation velocity.
• You will coach on AI product design principles, including prompt engineering for product tasks, evaluating model outputs for bias and reliability, and designing human-AI interaction flows that enhance usability and trust.
• You will support mentees in building LLM-optimized codebases, advising on API integration, token efficiency, caching strategies, fine-tuning considerations, and monitoring for drift or degradation in production-like environments.
• You will foster reflective practice by encouraging mentees to document lessons learned, conduct post-mortems on AI experiments, and develop mental models for when and how to leverage different types of AI (e.g., LLMs, computer vision, predictive models) in product contexts.
• You will contribute to Leland’s growing knowledge base by sharing anonymized insights, frameworks, and best practices from your coaching sessions, helping to elevate the quality of coaching across the platform.
• You will operate as an independent contractor with full autonomy over your schedule, session frequency, and hourly rate, allowing you to balance this role with your primary professional commitments while building your personal brand as an AI product thought leader.
• You will join a mission-driven, remote-first team of coaches and internal stakeholders who are passionate about equity in education and career advancement, collaborating through asynchronous communication and occasional virtual syncs to improve the coaching experience.
• Leland fosters a culture of continuous learning and experimentation, where coaches are encouraged to share resources, challenge assumptions, and innovate on coaching methodologies—giving you the chance to refine your own teaching and leadership skills in a supportive, high-trust environment.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven, hands-on experience using AI extensively in real product development environments at leading tech companies or high-growth startups, with demonstrable outcomes in AI product strategy, prototyping, design, or implementation.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, or teaching ability—capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for engineers, product managers, and designers at varying skill levels.
• Familiarity with modern AI tooling and practices, including LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Claude), prompt engineering, AI-assisted design tools, vector databases, and LLM-integrated development workflows.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient, empathetic, and growth-oriented mindset conducive to building trust and fostering mentee growth in a virtual setting.
• Ability to work independently as a contractor, manage your own schedule, and deliver high-value coaching sessions consistently without supervision.
