Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the security and compliance posture of Nelnet’s Enterprise AI program by serving as the technical bridge between AI governance policy and platform implementation, embedded within Shared Services and partnering closely with the Cyber Security Group (CSG).
- • Partner with CSG on data residency, PII handling, access governance, and model security controls, translating compliance policies into enforceable engineering guardrails that delivery teams and citizen developers can act upon directly.
- • Build and maintain security tooling, guardrail enforcement, and policy-as-code integrations across Enterprise AI platforms to reduce manual review through automation wherever possible.
- • Develop reusable security components and patterns that delivery teams and citizen developers can easily integrate into Agent builds, making the secure path the default and easiest path.
- • Instrument AI platforms to detect anomalous behavior, access patterns, and policy violations by building the detection layer itself, rather than merely consuming existing tools.
- • Apply hands-on security and compliance controls to AI or ML systems with direct implementation, not just documentation or advisory.
- • Define architecture standards or technical guardrails for AI systems that align with enterprise security and regulatory requirements.
- • Demonstrate familiarity with LLM-specific risks including prompt injection, data leakage, model access control, and output filtering.
- • Apply knowledge of data residency requirements, PII handling, and access governance within enterprise environments to AI workloads.
- • Translate complex security requirements into developer-friendly guidance that enables secure adoption without slowing innovation.
- • Work directly with developers and risk/compliance stakeholders in the same day, facilitating technical conversations between engineering and governance teams.
- • See security as an engineering discipline, not a compliance checkbox, and are energized by building systems that make doing the right thing easier than skipping it.
- • Default to "here’s how we do this safely" rather than simply saying "no" to requests.
- • Have 1–2 years of hands-on experience applying security and compliance controls to AI or ML systems.
- • Possess proven ability to build and implement solutions directly, not just advise or document.
