- • Validate and review CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and HCPCS codes for inpatient, outpatient, and physician office/clinic settings based on medical record documentation.
- • Adhere strictly to all coding and compliance guidelines established by regulatory and payer standards.
- • Resolve all assigned pre-billing edits to ensure accurate and timely claims submission.
- • Communicate directly with providers and clinical team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
- • Provide feedback to providers to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
- • Maintain current knowledge of governmental and commercial payer coding guidelines and billing updates.
- • Participate in coding educational opportunities including webinars, in-house training, and continuing education programs.
- • Utilize approved coding software and reference resources to determine correct code assignments.
- • Perform accurate data entry and maintain proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.
- • Apply mathematical skills to interpret billing data and ensure coding integrity.
- • Assist in identifying training needs within the coding team to enhance overall department performance.
- • Participate in meetings aimed at improving the overall billing and coding process.
- • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the goals of Medical Group Coding & Education Services.
🎯 Requirements
- • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred
- • Two (2) years of professional coding experience
- • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
- • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems
- • Knowledge of governmental and commercial payer coding guidelines
- • Ability to utilize coding software and reference resources accurately
