• • As an Analytics Engineer at Amplify Education, Inc., you will be at the forefront of transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive innovation across our K-12 educational products and internal operations. You will join a dynamic, multi-functional team dedicated to solving complex challenges in education through cutting-edge technology. Your role will be pivotal in ingesting, transforming, modeling, and aggregating data, ensuring its accuracy, reliability, and accessibility for data scientists, data analysts, and business stakeholders.
• • You will play a crucial role in enhancing the student learning experience by building analytical models that inform the design of engaging and effective applications. By developing modular data models, you will empower educators to gain a deeper understanding of student learning patterns and needs, fostering a more personalized and impactful educational journey.
• • Contribute to building great schools by architecting robust data solutions. This involves making critical decisions about technology stack, database design, and implementing stringent privacy and security measures, including data masking and encryption, to protect sensitive student information while delivering valuable insights.
• • You will be instrumental in helping school administrators and principals understand teaching methodologies and student progress by designing and implementing data warehouse schemas and SQL transformations. This includes leveraging advanced SQL techniques such as Common Table Expressions (CTEs), window functions, and pivots to create clear, insightful data structures.
• • Your responsibilities will extend to analyzing system performance, identifying and resolving complex bugs using a suite of powerful tools including Fivetran, Snowflake, Airflow, DBT, SQL, Python, Looker, and Tableau. This ensures the smooth and efficient operation of our data infrastructure.
• • Enhance the effectiveness of our Marketing and Sales teams by constructing cohesive, common data marts. These marts will integrate data from key ERP and CRM systems like Salesforce, NetSuite, and HubSpot, providing a unified view for strategic decision-making and targeted outreach.
• • Embrace a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. You will immerse yourself in agile development methodologies, leverage our robust infrastructure, and actively participate in code reviews, pull requests, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes. Mentorship and knowledge sharing within the team are highly encouraged.
• • Engage in cross-team knowledge-sharing sessions, including brownbags and workshop series, to foster a collaborative and innovative environment. You will also have the opportunity to become an expert in Amplify's data models and industry standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, consistent solutions.
• • Example projects include building well-tested and documented ELT data pipelines using dbt for both full and incremental models, feeding into fact and dimensional data marts. You might also work on forecasting and tracking sales pipelines in collaboration with the sales team to identify high-impact areas, or align with finance to ensure data integrity and auditability according to financial best practices.
• • Engineer novel datasets that capture a student's progress and performance within adaptive learning experiences, enabling flexible comparisons and deep analysis. You will collaborate with the data science team to measure the impact of design changes on administrative reporting applications and contribute to leading industry data standards like Caliper Analytics, EdFi, or xAPI.
• • Craft slowly changing dimensional models that account for the unique nuances of the K-12 education sector, such as school year transitions and student mobility between schools or classes, ensuring data accuracy over time.
