- • As a foundational member of our growing data team, you will be instrumental in defining and implementing robust data models that enhance analysis efficiency. Your work will empower various teams across Perplexity to derive rapid, reliable insights, directly impacting product development, user engagement, and overall business strategy.
- • You will champion and establish data modeling standards and best practices, leveraging cutting-edge tools such as dbt (data build tool) to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability of our data assets. This includes designing and implementing transformations that translate raw data into actionable business intelligence.
- • A key aspect of this role involves boosting the productivity of the entire data team. You will achieve this by improving existing tooling, automating repetitive workflows, and streamlining processes, freeing up valuable time for more strategic analytical work.
- • You will have significant ownership over tooling selection for our analytics stack. This involves a thoughtful evaluation of build vs. buy decisions, considering the long-term implications for cost, efficiency, and innovation, and managing vendor relationships when external solutions are chosen.
- • Collaborate closely with our talented Data Scientists to ensure a deep understanding of their analytical requirements. You will translate these needs into effective data solutions, building the foundational datasets and structures that enable advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- • Develop, maintain, and optimize critical dashboards and reporting systems that provide real-time visibility into key business metrics. These tools will be essential for tracking business health, identifying trends, and enabling data-informed decision-making across all departments.
- • Lead data governance initiatives, establishing and enforcing standards for data security, compliance, and quality. Your efforts will ensure that our data assets are trustworthy, secure, and adhere to all relevant regulations, building a strong foundation of data integrity.

🎯 Requirements
- • 6-8 years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, data science, or a closely related analytical role.
- • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, with a proven ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and perform data manipulation.
- • Demonstrated experience in data modeling, including dimensional modeling and applying analytics engineering best practices.
- • Proven track record of creating high-impact dashboards and visualizations using BI tools such as Omni, Mode, Hex, Looker, or similar platforms.
- • Prior experience working in fast-paced, rapidly scaling startup environments.
- • Ability to work autonomously, taking projects from initial concept through to successful execution with minimal supervision.
