- • As an Analytics Engineering Manager for Core Banking at Monzo, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of everyday money management for millions. This pivotal role sits at the intersection of data, engineering, and business strategy, empowering our Core Banking collective – responsible for the current account used by over 12 million users – with the insights and tools needed to drive innovation and growth. You will lead a team of exceptional analytics engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and ensuring our data warehouse becomes a true competitive advantage for Monzo as we scale towards 20 million customers.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to nurture and develop a team of 5 to 6 analytics engineers, guiding their personal and professional growth. This involves regular 1:1s, providing continuous feedback, and fostering strong working relationships. You will champion best practices in analytics engineering, elevate data governance principles, and collaborate across departments to ensure a consistent and mature approach to data management. Your leadership will be instrumental in making data at Monzo the gold standard within the industry.
- • You will play a key role in the strategic prioritization of initiatives and projects, working closely with other leads across Monzo’s collectives. Your hands-on involvement will extend to participating in the review cycle, providing architecture and design leadership, and contributing directly to the development of data pipelines. This dual focus on people leadership and technical contribution ensures that you are deeply connected to the team's work and the broader strategic objectives.
- • As part of the hiring team for Analytics Engineering, you will help identify and attract top talent, ensuring we continue to build a world-class data organisation. You will collaborate with other leads to deliver a scalable and consistent approach to governance and best practices, driving efficiency and reliability across our data infrastructure. Effective project management of central Analytics Engineering projects will be crucial, ensuring they are well-scoped, delivered on time, and meet the highest standards of quality.
- • You will establish yourself as a trusted partner to various collectives and the leadership team, demonstrating a strong capacity for execution, whether through direct contribution or by empowering your team. The role involves a commitment to owning and supporting the pipelines you and your team contribute to, which includes participating in an on-call rotation for out-of-hours support when necessary. This ensures the continuous operation and reliability of our critical data systems.
- • The Core Banking team is responsible for building the day-to-day money management experiences that millions of Monzo users rely on. This includes developing and enhancing features such as Trends, Salary Sorter, and Bills Pots, as well as building functionality for diverse user groups like Joint Account holders and Under 16s. Furthermore, you will oversee the analytics engineering aspects supporting Subscriptions, our paid upgrades designed to help customers achieve financial progress. Your work will directly impact the user experience and the strategic direction of these core banking products.
- • You will be instrumental in building a discipline of exceptional analytics engineers, dedicated to making Monzo's data capabilities the industry benchmark. This involves not only technical leadership but also fostering a collaborative and innovative environment where engineers feel empowered to push boundaries and deliver outstanding results. Your ability to balance strategic vision with practical execution will be key to the success of the team and the wider organisation.
- • We are looking for a leader who is passionate about developing talent and driving technical excellence. You will be a key player in shaping Monzo's data strategy, ensuring our data warehouse is robust, scalable, and cost-effective. Your leadership will directly contribute to Monzo's mission of making everyday money work for everyone by providing critical data insights that inform product development, business decisions, and operational efficiency.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within a fast-growing, innovative fintech company. You will have the autonomy to shape processes, mentor a talented team, and contribute to the strategic direction of our data organisation.
