- • Own the full technical sales cycle for Novanta’s Photonics portfolio, translating complex customer challenges into precision-engineered solutions that advance minimally-invasive surgery, robotics, and 3D metal printing.
- • Partner daily with sales directors, regional reps, and global distributors to scope, quote, and close multi-million-dollar opportunities—translating customer wish-lists into detailed mechanical, electrical, and optical specifications that our factories can build.
- • Lead virtual and on-site discovery sessions with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams at Fortune-500 OEMs, uncovering hidden requirements around beam quality, motion accuracy, thermal drift, and regulatory compliance (FDA, CE, ISO 13485).
- • Architect and validate complete electromechanical actuation and motion-control sub-systems—selecting lasers, stages, controllers, and safety interlocks—then create 3-D SolidWorks assemblies, MatLab control scripts, and Altium schematics that prove performance before hardware is ever cut.
- • Generate accurate costed bills-of-material and labor estimates in collaboration with manufacturing engineering; defend margin targets while offering creative value-engineering options that keep Novanta competitive and customers delighted.
- • Serve as the single technical point-of-contact from first inquiry through global field installation: write test protocols, supervise FAT/SAT runs, train customer technicians, and troubleshoot beam-alignment, encoder drift, or EMI issues—often resolving problems remotely via secure VPN and AR headsets.
- • Author crisp application notes, white-papers, and ROI calculators that arm our sales channel with the proof-points needed to win design-ins at medical-device giants and advanced-industrial OEMs.
- • Maintain a living library of lessons-learned, regulatory updates, and competitive intelligence; feed insights back to product management to influence next-gen laser engines and motion platforms.
- • Champion continuous improvement inside the Novanta Growth System—lead Kaizen events that compress quotation cycle time, reduce field-failure rates, and elevate Net Promoter Scores.
- • Mentor junior engineers and technical sales staff, transferring deep knowledge of opto-mechanical tolerancing, servo-loop tuning, and laser-safety standards so the entire team levels-up.
- • Travel up to 25 % (post-pandemic) to customer sites, trade shows, and Novanta’s global innovation centers—ensuring every solution is launched with excellence and every relationship is strengthened.
- • Thrive in a remote-first culture that prizes autonomy, transparency, and data-driven decisions; leverage Teams, Jira, and Salesforce to keep global stakeholders aligned across time zones.
