- • As an Applied AI Engineer at Axiomatic AI Inc., you will serve as the critical bridge between cutting-edge research and production-ready AI systems, transforming experimental prototypes into reliable, scalable features that power the company’s mission to achieve a 30× improvement in semiconductor and photonic hardware development by 2030. Your work will directly enable human researchers to leverage verifiable, interpretable AI in high-stakes scientific workflows, ensuring that AI systems are not only intelligent but also trustworthy, reproducible, and production-grade.
- • You will own the full lifecycle of applied AI features—from translating research prototypes and user feedback into clear technical requirements, through implementation, testing, deployment, and iterative improvement—ensuring that LLM- and agent-based systems are robust, maintainable, and aligned with real-world constraints such as latency, cost, privacy, and reliability. This includes designing and building tool-calling agents, structured output pipelines, retrieval integrations, and safe prompting strategies while balancing speed of iteration with production quality.
- • You will contribute to model and prompt engineering by working with state-of-the-art LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, HuggingFace, etc.), applying structured prompting patterns and schemas, and participating in lightweight evaluations using golden datasets, acceptance criteria, and failure-mode tests to detect regressions and ensure system stability under senior guidance.
- • You will uphold rigorous production engineering standards by writing clean, typed Python with strong API boundaries, comprehensive error handling, and consistent logging, tracing, and metrics implementation; owning unit, integration, and regression tests; and applying reliability and security best practices including rate limiting, safe input handling, and prompt-injection awareness.
- • You will collaborate closely with AI developers and researchers to productionize experiments, follow established deployment workflows (notebook/test repo → PR → staging → production), actively participate in code reviews, and integrate feedback to maintain code quality and team alignment in a shared, Git-based codebase.
- • You will join a mission-driven, globally distributed team in Barcelona, Boston, or remotely, working at the forefront of AI for scientific reasoning—where formal logic, physics-based modeling, and deep learning converge to create verifiable AI systems that accelerate hardware innovation and are designed to scale from lab to commercial product.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in applied AI engineering, gain hands-on experience productionizing LLM agents and agentic architectures, and develop a rare blend of software engineering rigor and AI systems intuition—positioning you at the forefront of the next generation of trustworthy, interpretable AI for industrial scientific applications.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of software engineering experience, with Python preferred
- • Hands-on experience building with LLMs or AI/ML tools in production (e.g., OpenAI API, HuggingFace, LangChain) beyond prototypes
- • Familiarity with agent frameworks such as LangChain, PydanticAI, or similar
- • Knowledge of prompt engineering and basic evaluation techniques for LLM systems
- • Strong programming fundamentals: design patterns, code structure, testing practices, and code review habits
- • API/service development experience (e.g., FastAPI, REST, async Python) and collaboration in shared codebases using Git
- • Basic observability experience: logging and tracing for distributed or AI systems
- • Problem-solving mindset: comfortable debugging real issues in production systems
- • Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
