  • • The Applied AI Scientist III is responsible for developing and applying cutting-edge advanced analytics solutions using emerging AI technologies such as Agentic AI, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI to enhance healthcare operations, patient care, and health plan performance and efficiency.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating emerging technologies in LLMs, NLP, and Generative AI; utilizing NLP and deep learning techniques to analyze unstructured healthcare data like clinical notes and patient feedback; leading development from prototype to production in partnership with engineering teams; co-owning operational readiness and post-release tuning of Generative AI solutions; leading initiatives in NLP and predictive analytics; collaborating with cross-functional teams across IT, risk adjustment, program integrity, HEDIS, healthcare operations, finance, and clinical departments; developing and implementing predictive models and statistical techniques on large healthcare datasets; defining and executing evaluation strategies for ML and LLM solutions including quality metrics, bias and safety checks; conducting data analysis including data cleansing, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis; collaborating with stakeholders to define KPIs, develop metrics, and create dashboards and reports; providing strategic guidance to senior leadership based on data analysis; ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations including HIPAA and PHI handling; leading cross-functional projects with light project management; representing the department in meetings requiring subject matter expertise.
  • • The role is part of CareSource Management Group Company, a healthcare organization focused on improving health outcomes through innovative data-driven solutions, working with interdisciplinary teams to drive innovation in healthcare operations and patient care using advanced AI technologies.
  • • In this role, the individual will deepen expertise in emerging AI technologies, lead high-impact data science projects independently, guide other data scientists through technical mentorship and code reviews, gain experience in healthcare-specific AI applications, and contribute to organizational goals through innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, cost containment, and patient care.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s or PhD preferred
  • • Five (5) years of experience in predictive analytics, data science, or related field, preferably within healthcare or managed care organizations
  • • Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare industry required
  • • One (1) year of experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data stack (Databricks or Snowflake) required
  • • One (1) year of experience in development and deployment of an NLP and Generative AI solution in the healthcare industry required
  • • Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning techniques, and predictive analytics tools such as Python or R
