đź“‹ Description
- • As an Applied Scientist on Zillow’s Connections AI team, you will build AI and machine learning systems that transform messy, real-world transaction and communication data into actionable intelligence for real estate agents and loan officers, directly supporting Zillow’s mission to make home a reality for more people.
- • Day to day, you will develop and improve applied ML systems for propensity, ranking, prediction, and decisioning; work with large, messy behavioral, conversational, operational, and CRM data; design evaluations for ML and GenAI features; prototype and test new ideas; collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams; and write production-ready code for data preparation, training, and model evaluation.
- • You will join Zillow’s AI organization, specifically the Connections AI team, which builds intelligence and decisioning systems that enable real estate agents and loan officers to operate as a coordinated team, linking signals across agent experiences, CRM tools, and home financing products to create a more connected, agentic transaction experience.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in applied ML, evaluation methodologies, and working with unstructured data at scale; contribute to trustworthy, explainable, and scalable AI systems; and grow your impact by translating research into practical improvements that shape the future of real estate transactions.

- • 3+ years of experience applying machine learning to real-world problems in academic or industry settings
- • Strong fundamentals in supervised learning, ranking, classification, regression, feature engineering, and practical model iteration
- • Experience designing and analyzing experiments, choosing metrics thoughtfully, and applying correct evaluation methods aligned with problem goals
- • Comfort working with imperfect real-world datasets, including text or event data, and understanding how data quality and bias affect modeling outcomes
- • Proficiency in Python and common ML tooling with a focus on writing clean, tested, maintainable code
- • Ability to communicate assumptions, trade-offs, and results clearly while collaborating effectively with engineering and product partners
