Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Serve as the spiritual catalyst for InterVarsity’s Inland Northwest Area, a vast and diverse region that includes public universities, community colleges, and private campuses across Idaho, eastern Washington, and parts of Montana. You will personally embody a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus—marked by daily Scripture engagement, fervent prayer, and authentic worship—so that students, faculty, and staff see what it looks like to follow Christ in every sphere of life.
  • • Cast and continually refine a bold, God-sized vision for multiplying witnessing communities until every corner of every campus experiences the transforming power of the gospel. Through prayer-soaked research, demographic study, and collaborative dreaming with local teams, you will set annual goals that are both faith-filled and measurable, ensuring that new groups are planted and existing ones grow in depth, diversity, and influence.
  • • Architect scalable ministry structures that turn vision into reality. You will design strategic plans, align programs to missional outcomes, and create feedback loops of action, reflection, and evaluation. Whether launching a Greek ministry at a flagship university or pioneering a commuter-student fellowship at a two-year college, you will adapt models to fit unique campus contexts while safeguarding InterVarsity’s core DNA.
  • • Recruit, develop, and supervise a resilient, multi-ethnic team of campus ministers. Using situational leadership, you will coach each staff member toward spiritual maturity (intimacy with Christ), Christ-like character, and missional effectiveness. Regular one-on-one supervision, group training intensives, and cross-cultural mentoring will equip your team to reach every ethnicity, academic discipline, and social pocket on campus.
  • • Forge strategic partnerships that extend the reach of campus ministry far beyond paid staff. You will mobilize alumni, faculty advocates, local churches, and major donors to pray, volunteer, and give generously. By building a robust Ministry Partnership Development (MPD) culture, you will ensure that every minister—especially those with limited networks—has the prayer and financial support needed to thrive.
  • • Champion racial reconciliation and ethnic diversity as non-negotiable expressions of the gospel. You will proactively break down cultural barriers, elevate under-represented voices, and create brave spaces where students of every background encounter belonging and purpose. Your leadership will help campuses become foretastes of Revelation 7 worship.
  • • Provide regional leadership alongside fellow Area Directors under the guidance of the Regional Director. You will contribute to division-wide strategic planning, share best practices, and occasionally lead training for emerging leaders across the western United States. Your voice will shape InterVarsity’s future direction while remaining rooted in the day-to-day realities of campus life.
  • • Steward the area’s finances with integrity and creativity. From crafting annual budgets to coaching staff on personal fundraising, you will ensure that every dollar advances mission. You will cultivate relationships with major donors, oversee grant applications, and deploy innovative campaigns that fully fund the region’s bold vision.
  • • Maintain operational excellence in a primarily remote environment. You will establish clear systems for reporting, HR compliance, risk management, and digital collaboration. Whether hosting Zoom prayer summits or driving six hours to meet a student leader in person, you will model flexibility and responsiveness.
  • • Communicate compellingly across multiple platforms—sermons, small-group Bible studies, donor newsletters, social media, and board presentations. Your storytelling will celebrate transformed lives, invite others into the mission, and keep every stakeholder aligned around shared outcomes.
  • • Embrace continuous learning. You will pursue professional development through InterVarsity’s training institutes, external conferences, and peer cohorts, ensuring that your leadership stays fresh, culturally relevant, and theologically grounded.
  • • Expect adventure. One week you may be backpacking with students in the Bitterroot Mountains, the next you could be presenting to a university board about religious freedom, and the following you might be kneeling in prayer at a racial-justice vigil. Every day will demand creativity, resilience, and unwavering hope in the God who loves the campus.
