Full Job Description

šŸ“‹ Description

  • • The Assistant Academic Program Director for Applied Behavior Analysis at Strayer University is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring academic excellence, curriculum quality, and learner success in a fully online higher education environment. This position works in close partnership with Program Directors to uphold rigorous academic standards, align curriculum with professional and accreditation requirements, and foster an engaging, effective learning experience that drives program outcomes.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development in alignment with external standards and university design principles, supervising subject matter expert course development, and applying analytics and evidence-based practices to continuously improve learner success, teaching effectiveness, engagement, and academic quality. The APD coordinates with Learner Affairs to monitor and address trends in academic honesty, advises Program Directors on alignment with evolving professional trends and licensure standards, and contributes to specialized accreditation processes and self-study initiatives.
  • • The role serves as a critical liaison across university functions including Course Development, Center for Faculty Excellence, Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness, and other departments to manage curriculum lifecycle processes, resolve faculty-related issues, and ensure cohesive program delivery. The APD also addresses learner programmatic concerns related to academic readiness, professional disposition, and behaviors, and may teach or mentor as assigned to maintain faculty engagement and instructional excellence.
  • • Collaboration is central to this role—working with Core Faculty, assistant/associate deans, faculty directors, and cross-functional partners to navigate complex, matrixed environments with high interdependence. The APD must demonstrate leadership by operating independently, collaborating effectively, listening actively, and executing decisions that support business and program goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards such as those from HLC.
  • • The position requires a deep understanding of curriculum development, andragogy, competency-based education, and direct assessment methods, along with discipline-specific expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis. Success depends on the ability to objectively analyze course and program quality data, implement data-driven improvements, and advise on learning effectiveness while maintaining flexibility, innovation, and resilience in ambiguous, fast-changing academic landscapes.

šŸŽÆ Requirements

  • • Doctorate in Applied Behavior Analysis or a closely related field is required.
  • • BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) certification is required; BCBA-D is preferred.
  • • Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an accredited ABA program or related field, with demonstrated experience in online higher education instruction.
  • • Proven leadership experience in academia or a practitioner setting, preferably with background in managing remote teams and matrixed organizational structures.
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to access and interpret data using computer systems to inform curriculum and program decisions.
  • • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time and ability to lift 25 lbs., with mobility required for occasional office-based work across floors.

šŸ–ļø Benefits

  • • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance for employees working 30+ hours per week.
  • • Access to well-being incentives, parental leave, paid time off, certain paid holidays, and tax-advantaged accounts (FSA, HSA).
  • • Retirement and wealth-building benefits including 401(k) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • • Tuition assistance program supporting employee and dependent educational advancement.
  • • Additional perks such as entertainment and retail discounts, with overtime pay available for non-exempt employees when applicable.
  • • Commitment to equity and inclusion as an equal opportunity employer fostering a culture where diverse talent can grow and contribute fully.
