- ā¢ As a Senior Regulatory Counsel for the Americas at Airwallex, you will play a critical role in enabling the companyās global expansion by ensuring compliance with complex financial services regulations across North and South America, directly supporting the mission to build the future of global banking.
- ā¢ You will serve as a senior legal advisor on payments, licensing, and regulatory strategy, working at the intersection of law, product, and compliance to help Airwallex scale securely and innovatively in high-growth markets.
- ā¢ Your day-to-day responsibilities will include advising on money transmission, stored value, FX, remittance, and card issuing regulations; monitoring regulatory developments; supporting licensing applications; and partnering with product, strategy, and commercial teams on market entry initiatives.
- ā¢ You will lead engagements with federal and state/provincial regulators in key jurisdictions, manage external counsel, and ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings and reporting across the Americas region.
- ā¢ You will collaborate closely with the Product Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Risk, and Financial Crime Compliance teams to embed compliance into product design and operational processes, leveraging AI and legal tech to enhance efficiency.
- ā¢ You will support government relations efforts by engaging with legislators and agencies to shape favorable regulatory policies, and provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to senior stakeholders globally.
- ā¢ You will own complex regulatory workstreams, demonstrate proactive risk management, and contribute to the development of Airwallexās regional regulatory strategy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

šÆ Requirements
- ā¢ Qualified lawyer with 10+ years of relevant post-qualification experience
- ā¢ Strong regulatory experience in fintech, law firms, or financial institutions, ideally with payments, e-money, FX, remittance, or card issuing exposure in the Americas
- ā¢ Deep experience advising on regulatory matters, handling submissions/filings, and engaging directly with federal and state/provincial regulators in key Americas markets
- ā¢ Strong understanding of the financial services regulatory environment in the Americas, particularly as it relates to payments, remittance, FX, issuing, and digital financial services
- ā¢ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
- ā¢ Collaborative, results-driven mindset with ownership orientation and comfort managing ambiguity in fast-paced environments
