  • • Join Twilio, a global leader in communications technology, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how businesses connect with their customers. We are a remote-first company, fostering a vibrant and inclusive culture that empowers millions of developers and hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide to craft personalized customer experiences. As our presence in the Asia-Pacific, Japan, and China (APJ) region expands, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Counsel, Government, Policy, and Regulatory Affairs to join our dynamic team.
  • • In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in navigating the complex and evolving landscape of government, policy, and regulatory affairs across the APJ region. You will work closely with various business units, providing essential legal and policy support to track, assess, and communicate policy evolutions. Your contributions will directly influence the development and execution of Twilio's engagement strategy, ensuring we maintain a strong and compliant presence in key markets.
  • • A core responsibility will be the proactive monitoring and tracking of policy and regulatory developments that are relevant to Twilio's operations and services within the APJ region. This involves staying ahead of legislative changes, regulatory pronouncements, and industry trends that could impact our business, and translating this information into actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
  • • You will take ownership of and drive key Government, Policy, and Regulatory Affairs (GPRA) APJ processes. This includes managing and disseminating crucial information through newsletters and knowledge-sharing updates, ensuring that relevant teams are consistently informed about the latest developments and their implications.
  • • Ensuring regulatory compliance is paramount. You will be responsible for tracking and ensuring that all regulatory compliance obligations, including reporting requirements to various regulators across APJ, are met accurately and in a timely manner. This requires meticulous attention to detail and a robust understanding of diverse regulatory frameworks.
  • • This role will provide essential project management and administrative support to senior attorneys and policy leads. You will be tasked with tracking deliverables, maintaining comprehensive work plans, and coordinating inputs from a variety of internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless project execution and efficient workflow management.
  • • You will actively assist with drafting legal and policy documents, conducting thorough research, and preparing necessary documentation. This includes ensuring timely follow-up on action items, and meticulously organizing materials for regulatory filings, important meetings, and strategic government engagements.
  • • Responding promptly and effectively to requests and questions from internal stakeholders is key. You will be expected to summarize complex regulatory requirements and communicate them in a clear, concise, succinct, and business-friendly manner, enabling informed decision-making across the organization.
  • • Supporting both internal and external regulatory meetings will be a significant part of your role. This involves preparing agendas, gathering relevant information, taking minutes, and ensuring that follow-up actions are effectively managed.
  • • You will be adept at accurately managing complex legal and regulatory information, structuring workflows to meet competing deadlines, and proactively identifying potential compliance risks. Your ability to anticipate challenges and develop mitigation strategies will be highly valued.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves designing and maintaining robust compliance and regulatory document systems. These systems must be audit-ready and facilitate efficient reporting processes, with a strong emphasis on effective version control where necessary.
  • • You will lead workflow design and process improvements within the GPRA team, track key regulatory and compliance metrics, and contribute to enhancing overall team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • • Engaging with senior lawyers and decision-makers will be essential to advance work programs and ensure the timely delivery of both internal and external objectives. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships will be critical.
  • • Maintaining accurate and timely updates in internal systems, such as Airtable, will be crucial for tracking regulatory workstreams and enabling the team to plan and follow up effectively. This ensures transparency and accountability across all ongoing initiatives.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Twilio's strategic growth in the APJ region, working within a supportive and innovative environment that values collaboration, initiative, and a commitment to making a global impact. You will be empowered to take ownership of your work, develop your skills, and grow your career within a company that is revolutionizing the communications landscape.
