  • • Own the consumer voice for JioStar’s flagship Hindi GEC portfolio. You will be the single source of truth for what 750 million weekly viewers feel, think and crave—translating raw emotion into data-backed storytelling decisions that move the needle on ratings, watch-time and cultural impact.
  • • Partner with fiction & non-fiction showrunners, marketing, creative, and scheduling teams to frame the right research questions before a single rupee is spent. Translate business intent (“We need a 20 % lift in 15-34 female NCCS A”) into crisp qualitative objectives (“Decode the evolving self-worth narrative for small-town women 22-30”).
  • • Commission and manage end-to-end qualitative studies—focus groups, ethnographies, in-home immersions, digital diaries, semiotics and trend safaris—across metros, Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns. You will screen recruiters, moderate sessions, and personally travel to catch unfiltered consumer emotion in living rooms, trains, beauty parlours and college canteens.
  • • Watch every minute of on-air content daily (yes, daily) to map character arcs, plot inflection points, dialogue tonality and cultural triggers. Overlay this with real-time social chatter, BARC viewership spikes and sentiment heat-maps to surface “why” audiences lean in or drop off.
  • • Build living insight dashboards that marry primary field data with secondary sources—YouTube comment mining, Reddit threads, Instagram Reels, Fandom wikis, Google Trends and news cycles—to spot emergent societal shifts before they become hashtags.
  • • Translate findings into sharp, 1-page “So What” memos delivered to writers’ rooms within 24 hours of field exit. Your insight on “the rise of the guilt-free ambitious bahu” could spark a new track that adds 3 extra TVRs overnight.
  • • Run weekly “Story Clinics” where writers, directors and marketing creatives huddle around your insight boards to pressure-test upcoming tracks, promo angles and character pivots. Your voice decides whether a love triangle lives or dies.
  • • Design and execute ad-hoc deep dives—e.g., decoding the post-pandemic nostalgia wave, mapping the evolution of male vulnerability on Indian TV, or understanding why Gen Z binge-watches mom-in-law dramas ironically yet emotionally.
  • • Champion inclusive research practices—recruit across gender identities, socio-economic strata, disability cohorts and regional dialects to ensure stories resonate beyond the Hindi heartland.
  • • Build and maintain a proprietary “Culture Radar” repository—a searchable trove of 500+ semiotics codes, socio-emotional territories and narrative tropes that become the creative team’s secret weapon during green-light pitches.
  • • Present quarterly “State of the Viewer” reports to the C-Suite, translating ethnographic gold into boardroom-ready charts that secure bigger budgets for risk-friendly storytelling experiments.
  • • Mentor junior researchers on moderating skills, storytelling craft and the art of converting field quotes into killer slide headlines that make creatives say, “We have to shoot this tomorrow.”
  • • Stay obsessively plugged into global content—K-dramas, Turkish dizis, Spanish telenovelas, anime and OTT originals—to benchmark emotional pay-offs and cross-pollinate winning narrative devices into Hindi GEC formats.
  • • Experiment with AI-assisted sentiment scraping and video ethnography tools, but always validate machine signals with human truth. You are the human firewall against shallow data hallucinations.
  • • Celebrate wins loudly: when your insight drives a 30 % jump in watch-time or births a national catchphrase, you’ll see your quote on the writers’ room wall and your meme on the official Instagram handle.
