  • • Assists in analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and implementing less complex application enhancements and providing general production support while adhering to Highmark IT standards and policies.
  • • Participates in the full system development life cycle (SDLC) according to Highmark’s current SDLC standards.
  • • Collaborates with customers, business analysts, partners, and IT team members to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions that meet defined scope, timelines, and budgets with minimal defects.
  • • Provides technical support including release implementations, on-call duties, and 24x7 support as required.
  • • Works in compliance with all Highmark and Highmark IT standards, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA and data security guidelines.
  • • Actively participates on project teams in various roles such as Developer, Technical Lead, or Project Manager, based on experience level.
  • • Communicates effectively with team members, customers, partners, and management through technical walkthroughs, project status reporting, and accurate documentation.
  • • Supports applications using technologies including IMS, DB2, Oracle, Teradata, COBOL, Visual Basic, C/C++, SAS, Java/JavaScript frameworks, PEGA, CSS3, JSON, Cognos, Hadoop, SQL, J2EE, HTML5/XML, Business Objects, and .NET.
  • • Applies project management methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, and Rational in daily work.
  • • Must reside in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area or within a reasonable commuting distance to Pittsburgh.
  • • Must be able to travel up to 25% to distribution centers within the Pittsburgh area for AHN customer support, despite the role being fully remote.
  • • Performs work requiring occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and rare lifting of 10 to 25 pounds.
  • • May be required to teach or train others regularly as part of job responsibilities.
  • • Applies problem-solving, root cause analysis, and issue resolution skills to support application systems.
  • • Demonstrates leadership skills in team and project environments.
  • • Current skill sets are reviewed approximately every other year; new technical skills may be required to meet evolving business needs.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Must reside in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area or within a reasonable commuting distance to Pittsburgh
  • • 0–1 year of experience in Information Technology or related field
  • • Familiarity with the Healthcare or Health Insurance industry
  • • Familiarity with Highmark enterprise technology platforms, application development tools, and software development life cycle
  • • Ability to travel up to 25% to distribution centers within the Pittsburgh area for AHN customer support
  • • Must comply with HIPAA and company data security policies
