- • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial AI SaaS contracts and other technology and AI-related agreements to support Harvey’s go-to-market and business teams.
- • Provide training and develop legal resources to enable sales and cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Privacy, and Security.
- • Operate in a fast-paced startup environment serving global law firms and professional organizations, with direct exposure to cutting-edge generative AI commercialization.
- • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient execution of customer agreements while maintaining legal compliance and risk mitigation.
- • Expand legal expertise beyond commercial contracting into product counseling and intellectual property law, with opportunities to take on new responsibilities as the legal team grows.
- • Maintain a hyper-responsive and service-oriented approach to internal stakeholders, prioritizing speed and clarity without compromising legal rigor.
- • Apply ninja-like project management skills to handle multiple concurrent agreements, deadlines, and evolving business needs in a high-growth environment.
- • Stay current with Australian privacy and data protection laws, including regulatory expectations for APRA-regulated institutions.
- • Contribute to the development of scalable legal processes and templates that support Harvey’s rapid international expansion across 60+ countries.
- • Operate under Harvey’s core values: Decisiveness, Simplicity, and Job’s Not Finished — acting on clear judgment over perfect information, prioritizing simplicity in legal documentation, and refusing to settle for adequacy.
- • Work in a hybrid model requiring three days per week in the Sydney office, with two days remote, to foster collaboration and team cohesion.
- • Engage with world-class investors and customers to understand commercial and legal expectations in enterprise AI adoption.
- • Support the company’s mission to make generative AI actionable and useful for professional services through legally sound, business-aligned solutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Admitted to practice law in Australia with a current practising certificate
- • 3–5 years post-admission experience in a top-tier law firm or in-house legal team
- • Transactional background in SaaS, technology, and IP-rich commercial agreements
- • Familiarity with Australian privacy and data protection law and financial services regulatory concepts (including APRA-regulated institutions)
- • Ability to think creatively, function independently, and work proactively in a fast-paced startup environment
- • Team-focused and collaborative work style with willingness to build expertise in evolving legal areas
