📋 Description
- • The Associate Counsel role at GEICO involves defending lawsuits filed in New York courts and handling first-party insurance defense matters, playing a critical role in protecting the company and its policyholders through skilled legal representation.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include researching laws and preparing legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda; rendering opinions on liability, damages, and value for the Claims Department; and preparing and handling pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations under oath, and defending cases at trial or dispositive hearings.

- • In this role, the Associate Counsel will develop deep expertise in insurance defense litigation, refine litigation strategy and trial advocacy skills, and grow professionally through access to training, mentorship, and career development programs within a supportive legal team.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required
- • Admission to the New York Bar and license to practice law in good standing in New York
- • 2 to 6+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense and/or personal injury
