- • Secure third-party copyright permissions for all AP assessment products and curricular materials across approximately 40 courses, ensuring compliance with copyright law, public domain status, and fair use guidelines.
- • Review and evaluate stakeholder requests for use of third-party content, making independent determinations on permissions eligibility and content usage rights.
- • Initiate, negotiate, and manage all correspondence with rightsholders, including submitting permission requests, securing appropriate licensing terms, and overseeing contract execution and payment processing.
- • Adhere to strict production timelines for AP exams, proactively identifying potential permission bottlenecks and proposing alternative content solutions when rights cannot be obtained.
- • Maintain accurate, up-to-date copyright tracking for all active AP projects, ensuring proper credit lines and documentation are included in final instructional and assessment materials.
- • Collaborate closely with AP course teams, product managers, and Assessment Production staff to ensure permissions requests are submitted with proper timing, documentation, and alignment with production workflows.
- • Regularly report on permissions progress through written updates and scheduled meetings, highlighting risks, delays, or unresolved issues and recommending mitigation strategies.
- • Monitor and respond to reports of unauthorized use of AP content online, handling takedown requests and maintaining correspondence via the Copyright Violations email inbox.
- • Drive continuous improvement of permissions processes by documenting current practices, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending tool or workflow enhancements in collaboration with internal teams.
- • Utilize Smartsheet, MS Excel, and item bank management systems to track permissions status, manage data, and generate reports for cross-functional stakeholders.
- • Process and analyze large volumes of content requests and licensing data to draw actionable insights that inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
- • Serve as a subject matter expert on copyright and licensing within the AP program, providing guidance and training to colleagues on permissions best practices.
- • Travel 4–6 times per year to College Board offices or for business-related purposes, as required.
- • Maintain a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability in all permissions-related documentation and communications.
- • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to build trust and productive relationships with internal teams, external rightsholders, and vendors.
- • Embrace a learner’s mindset, proactively adopting new digital tools and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in permissions workflows.
- • Contribute to a mission-driven culture focused on expanding educational opportunity through accurate, ethical, and timely handling of intellectual property rights.
