Associate Director, Global Medical Publications

📋 Description

• • Lead the strategic development and operational execution of global medical publication plans for assigned disease areas in close collaboration with Disease Area Leads, ensuring alignment with scientific and regulatory standards.
• • Own end-to-end responsibility for all publication activities within assigned disease areas, including planning, implementation, tracking, and documentation of all scientific outputs.
• • Partner with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Compliance to develop and maintain ethical, transparent, and audit-ready publication practices.
• • Ensure full compliance with global publication guidelines including ICMJE, GPP, CONSORT, AMA Manual of Style, and Council of Biology Editors, and escalate compliance concerns to the Director as needed.
• • Manage and oversee external vendor relationships to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery of publication services such as medical writing, editorial support, and journal submission.
• • Drive scientific impact through the use of advanced analytics, including altmetrics, share-of-voice dashboards, citation tracking, and usage data to measure and communicate the reach and influence of publications.
• • Innovate data dissemination strategies by leveraging digital channels and enhanced reporting tools to increase visibility and accessibility of scientific findings.
• • Represent the Global Medical Publications team at strategic meetings for assigned disease areas, providing expert input on publication strategy and scientific communication.
• • Lead training initiatives on publication systems, processes, and compliance requirements to ensure team and stakeholder alignment.
• • Collaborate enterprise-wide to harmonize publication processes, SOPs, trackers, and governance frameworks across regions and therapeutic areas.
• • Maintain rigorous documentation of all publication activities to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance across all assigned disease areas.
• • Stay current on evolving industry guidelines, regulatory expectations, and best practices in medical communications to continuously improve publication standards.
• • Travel domestically and internationally to support strategic meetings, vendor engagements, and cross-functional collaborations as required.
• • Operate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for performance, compliance, and delivery outcomes for assigned disease areas.
• • Serve as the primary point of contact for all publication-related matters within assigned disease areas, coordinating input from multiple stakeholders and ensuring timely execution.
