- • The Associate Director, Learning & Development will lead the design and execution of end-to-end strategic learning plans for product launches and ongoing commercial learning in the Ophthalmology division, ensuring learning drives desired business outcomes for new product launches.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing comprehensive learning plans aligned with product strategy and commercial objectives, designing launch workshop curricula and learning assets (e-learning, facilitator guides, job aids), defining learning pathways for various roles and phases, establishing measurement frameworks to evaluate learning impact, and partnering cross-functionally with sales, medical, regulatory, marketing, and HR/Talent teams.
- • The role is part of Merck & Co., Inc.'s US Ophthalmology team, which is committed to transforming patients' lives with therapies for diabetic macular edema and neovascular age-related macular degeneration through scientific rigor, patient focus, and flawless execution.
- • The individual will have the opportunity to lead and grow a high-performing L&D team, provide thought leadership on adult learning theory and blended learning, drive innovation in learning methodologies, and directly impact the success of product launches through strategic learning initiatives that support adoption and behavior change in the field.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in Human Resources or related discipline
- • Minimum of 10+ years of related experience (8+ years with Master’s degree)
- • Experience in Ophthalmology in either a sales or learning/education capacity
- • Proven leadership designing strategic learning programs in regulated industries (Ophthalmology pharma/biotech/healthcare preferred)
- • Deep expertise in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and curriculum development
- • Strong experience creating and facilitating or overseeing launch workshops and multi-day immersive training programs
