- • The Associate Director of Development (ADOD) is responsible for building, cultivating, and stewarding a portfolio of qualified donors to secure income in support of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) conservation goals. This role is critical to advancing TNC’s mission by securing major gifts that fund science-based conservation initiatives worldwide.
- • Day to day, the ADOD manages a portfolio of 75–125 donors, conducts 125 visits and 275 moves annually, maintains accurate donor records in TNC’s CRM, develops and presents fundraising proposals, conducts prospect research, and makes direct asks to global and local donors to meet an annual fundraising goal of $1,000,000 or more.
- • The ADOD works within TNC’s global conservation organization, collaborating with field teams across Oceania and Asia-Pacific, as well as staff at the Worldwide Office, to share program developments and align fundraising efforts with conservation priorities. TNC is a science-driven, mission-focused organization dedicated to protecting lands and waters through inclusive, collaborative, and innovative solutions.
- • In this role, the individual will develop expertise in major gift fundraising, donor stewardship, and strategic relationship management within a global environmental nonprofit. They will gain experience in high-stakes donor engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and mission-driven leadership, positioning them for advancement into senior development or nonprofit leadership roles.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination
- • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents
- • Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $25,000 or more
- • Experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
- • Experience working with cross-functional teams
- • Experience, coursework, or training in fundraising principles and practices
