- • As the Associate General Counsel at Pivotal Health Inc., you will serve as the first legal partner to the General Counsel and play a central role in guiding the company through the complex intersection of healthcare regulation and technology innovation. You will help ensure that Pivotal Health scales responsibly by providing strategic legal counsel that enables product development, commercial growth, and operational efficiency while managing risk in a highly regulated industry.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include partnering with Product and Engineering teams to advise on healthcare regulatory requirements such as HIPAA/HITECH and the No Surprises Act, translating legal obligations into practical product and operational decisions; leading commercial contracting by drafting and negotiating key agreements including MSAs, BAAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements while building scalable templates and playbooks; owning the day-to-day contracting process by establishing clear review workflows and service levels that balance speed with legal protection; helping build the company’s compliance foundation by supporting the development of policies, procedures, and monitoring practices as the compliance program scales; advising internal teams on operational risk by partnering with Operations and leadership to evaluate legal risks and support informed decision-making; supporting corporate governance and company operations by working with the General Counsel on board materials, corporate filings, investor reporting, and other governance matters; providing guidance on employment and internal matters by supporting HR and leadership on employee-related legal questions, policies, and best practices as the company grows; and helping scale the legal function by contributing to the creation of legal processes, documentation, and tools that enable efficient operations during expansion.

- • In this role, you will gain broad exposure across contracting, product counseling, compliance, governance, and operations while working closely with cross-functional teams. You will develop deep expertise in healthcare technology law, strengthen your ability to provide business-oriented legal guidance in a startup environment, and help build foundational legal systems that support scalable, compliant growth—positioning you for long-term impact as a strategic legal leader in the health tech industry.
🎯 Requirements
- • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar
- • 4+ years of legal experience, ideally with training at a top law firm
- • Experience advising on healthcare regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, AKS, FCA, or similar healthcare regulatory regimes
- • Strong drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to translate complex business concepts into clear contractual language
- • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance in a fast-moving environment
- • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical teams
